20. wow. i cant stand this girl and now its given me another reason to avoid her music at all cost. can she sing, well yeah. but all that hand movement was not necessary. go back to doing reggaeton and leave the national anthem to people who can really sing.

21. I totally agree with Me Myself and I. That is horrible that people are booing the national anthem!!! It is a shame...perhaps we should realize the importance of an education, at this point! I suppose nationalism is no longer running in our veins!!! She sounded fine and I would love to see anyone of those people get out there and sing...oh that is right none of them can...perhaps these meatheads should lay off the beer and read a good book and perhaps can gain some idea of culture from the words of others...that would be a cold day in hell though...

25. Just because you can use melisma doesn't mean you know how. She was disrespectful and just horrible in her over-singing. I started searching for my remote to mute it. That anyone can defend that or doesn't know the difference is a testament to today's musical vacancy.

26. Hi #20. I don't think people boo the national anthem. We boo the butchering of the signing of the anthem. It's not a Top 40 Pop song. It's our pride and for people to put their own spin on it like it's some American Idol audition should be banned from singing it. Whitney's version brings tears to my eyes and gives me chill bumps. I think I speak for a lot of people who want to hear it sung with class, pride, and emotion.

27. She must've been a Latina singer because (in case you weren't watching) last night's broadcast was all about the Celebration of Hispanic Heritage. I've never heard of her before and (God willing) I will never hear of her again. She'd be okay if she'd just calm down, but she'll never be the type of singer I listen to. Give me Ann Wilson or Chrissy Hynde any day over these oversinging bimbos.

And oh yeah...I'm 100% sure that Francis Scott Key did not have that in mind when he wrote the Star-Spangled Banner.

And as for reading a book or gaining from the culture of others, why don't you actually listen to a record that's more than 3 years old. Some Billie Holiday or Dinah Washington, or even someone new like Sharon Jones or Susan Tedeschi.
