"Eight Is Enough" Star Busted in "Drag" Race

Joan Prather -- Janet McArthur Bradford on "Eight Is Enough" -- was arrested on felony hit-and-run charges over the weekend, after she allegedly dragged an L.A. County Sheriff's deputy down PCH with her car.

The deputy attempted to stop Joan after she drove past barricades and road cones during the Malibu Triathlon.

According to the Malibu Surfside News, when Raines extended his arm -- motioning for Joan to stop -- his watch became entangled in her car. She didn't stop and Michael had to run alongside the car for 20 feet until other deputies intervened.

The cop was treated at a local hospital for a sprained arm. Joan was booked on a felony hit-and-run and released on $50,000 bail.

A rep for Prather was not available for comment.

23. Who the hell is stupid enough to try and stop a car with their hand? Did he think he could slap it and send it careening off to the side of the road? What a dumbass! He's lucky that's all he got was a sprain. She must have been driving pretty slowly, in order not to have taken his hand, or arm off. Even if you're a cop, let's try to use our brains, huh?.

24. In 1993 I was remodeling a house on the 400 block of Mesa Road in Pacific Palisades. I had one run in with the lady across the street, Jamie Lee Curtis. She had a mouth fouler then any construction worker I ever met, except for Neal Arnspiger. But he was actually tortured in a N. Korean prison camp until his finger and toenails never grew back. Anyway this story is about the oldest daughter on the Lost in Space TV show. She was walking her dogs up the strret one morning, and when she got to my job she made a big deal about it being hard to go around my truck, and started yelling obscenites at my crew. Just as I decided she was so loaded that I gave them permission to respond to her, a mercedes came down the hill, driven by a lawyer looking guy in a 3 piece suit. As soon as blondie saw him she ran in front of his car screaming like a banshee and leapt on his hood and tried to break off his windshield wipers. He did a stop and go a coulple of times until she flew off then he tore out yelling obscenities out the window. I talked to John Travolta as he jogged by one day, he seemed nice, and I stood next to Arnold the future governor in a liquor store and he seemed short, but ok too.

25. I didn't see anywhere in this article where she was drunk or on drugs, don't you think that they tested her? that's why she was released. I was probably an accidents. Accidents do happen in Malibu and they do happen to people, rich or poor, famous or non famous. it's stupid comments like some of these that keep The Star, National Inquirer and the rest of the rag sheets in the supermarkets. Why are there so many haters against Actors and actresses. They aren't all Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan! Some of them are nice decent people that are smart enough not to believe everything they read in the rag sheets.

27. Huh? David, are you high? What are you rambling on about? Work time over? Beers come out early, as they always seem to do on construction sites? I don't really have the highest opinions of construction workers, in the many years I have been associated with them, so I kinda doubt that you and/or your guys didn't contribute to the 'pedestrians' attitude. Next time, don't block the sidewalk, it's a traffic offense! And, don't taunt the neighbors!
