"Eight Is Enough" Star Busted in "Drag" Race

Joan Prather -- Janet McArthur Bradford on "Eight Is Enough" -- was arrested on felony hit-and-run charges over the weekend, after she allegedly dragged an L.A. County Sheriff's deputy down PCH with her car.

The deputy attempted to stop Joan after she drove past barricades and road cones during the Malibu Triathlon.

According to the Malibu Surfside News, when Raines extended his arm -- motioning for Joan to stop -- his watch became entangled in her car. She didn't stop and Michael had to run alongside the car for 20 feet until other deputies intervened.

The cop was treated at a local hospital for a sprained arm. Joan was booked on a felony hit-and-run and released on $50,000 bail.

A rep for Prather was not available for comment.

31. I agree with poster # 11. A lot of you people jump to conclutions. Where did it say that she was arrested for a DUI?? Had she been drunk, that is what she would have been booked for along with Felony hit and run.She ia out of jail because she bailed out. Had she been drumk, she would still be in jail.Poster # 3, if she lived in my city, she would have been shot in the head, the cops here shot 5'1" little women who arent even carrying a gun. 37. The sheriff just stuck his arm out, what the hell does that mean? Too bad the sheriff didn't stumble and fall under the wheels of the car and get run over and killed. There are too many cops in the world as it is. Most of them are crookeder than a dogs hind leg and are pathetic liars and dope heads. The only good cop is a dead or paralyzed one. I'M sure this guy is just a self rightous little dillweed that should be collecting garbage anyway and he got what he deserved.

41. ??? She dragged him 20 FEET? Not blocks, not yards, but 20 FEET? That's about 1 car length. Doesn't sound like she was trying to hurt him. She probably didn't realize she had hooked his watch. It sounds like she stopped VERY quickly! And, once gain, the Media pumps up a story to make it sound much worse than it is. From what I've heard here, the police should save themselves some embarassment and just drop the charges. If I'm on the jury, I'm sure not going to ruin this woman's life by giving her a felony conviction for something so trivial. This country is absolutely insane in the vicious way it treats anyone convicted of a felony, punishing them for the rest of their lives. No one deserves this kind of treatment, and CERTAINLY this woman does not.

44. I agree with FEDUPWITHSTUPIDRICHSTARS. Do something constructive with your money and your life. At least set a normal example - if not a decent example. Also, even if she wasn't on "something," why didn't she stop her car like everyone else? YOU CAN'T RUN OVER PEOPLE. NOR CAN YOU DRAG THEM ALONGSIDE YOUR CAR. Maybe the sense of entitlement that celebrities (even has-beens) have causes them to believe otherwise? Didn't the show she was on end 2 decades ago? This woman hasn't made a life for herself in 2 decades? Felony hit-and-run. This won't bring about a comeback. It'll bring about a prison term.
