"Eight Is Enough" Star Busted in "Drag" Race

Joan Prather -- Janet McArthur Bradford on "Eight Is Enough" -- was arrested on felony hit-and-run charges over the weekend, after she allegedly dragged an L.A. County Sheriff's deputy down PCH with her car.

The deputy attempted to stop Joan after she drove past barricades and road cones during the Malibu Triathlon.

According to the Malibu Surfside News, when Raines extended his arm -- motioning for Joan to stop -- his watch became entangled in her car. She didn't stop and Michael had to run alongside the car for 20 feet until other deputies intervened.

The cop was treated at a local hospital for a sprained arm. Joan was booked on a felony hit-and-run and released on $50,000 bail.

A rep for Prather was not available for comment.

49. I really don't think he was dragged! Twenty feet is nothing. That's just a bit longer than some cars.....Do we know if she even was aware he snagged his watch on her car? Sounds like a not too sharp cop got embarrased and felt like he needed to get his ego back! I hope she gets a good attorney.

52. Liam it's kind'a hard not to see a cop standing in front of your car holding putting his hand up telling you to stop and not run over the orange cones and then hooked on to your windshield wiper.

54. There are a several thoughts that come to mind...
1. No - She shouldn't have driven through the barricades
2. Yes - She should have been stopped and cited
3. IF I were the sheriff...I would teach my deputies NOT to get their clothing or jewelry entangled in a moving vehicle..
4. THIS story seems to be a bit dramatized....it says she "Dragged him.." the lengthy distance of 20 feet....it doesn't say...but is it possible the deputy ran along because he didn't want to lose or break his watch...we don't know

57. To charge the woman with a felony is ridiculous. I think the officers were just being jerks about the whole situation. It sounds as though she stopped immediately after she discovered the officer was hooked to her car. It certainly doesn't seem maliscious. They should have cited her for not stopping for the barriade, given her a $50 fine and dropped the rest of it. The cops seem like they have "little man" syndrome or something like that!

Her mom was my high school (Arts Magnet High School, at Booker T Washington in Dallas) counselor - I remember one year when Joan Prather was a tv star on Eight is Enough, she came to my drama class to talk to us about acting in Hollywood, she sat directly in front of me, She was a bitch! I didn't liked her, I remember her mom telling me that she was into Sciencetology, btw in her mom's office she had pictures of her daughter with famous people. Can we say bragging?
Now I read this about Joan, hahaha I hope she goes to jail! I always wondered what happened to her. Now I know, lol
