Travis and DJ AM Save Lives By Jumping

Sources tell us Travis Barker and DJ AM saved their own lives after their plane crashed by jumping out the door of the burning plane, almost immediately after the small jet came to a halt.

As we reported, both are at a burn center, but it could have been fatal. The Learjet was already on fire when they fled.

32. i don't trust tmz's "sources" nor do i believe their tacky portrayal of the events. i was watching msnbc and the reporter on the scene had spoken to the one eye witness, who said the plane was a fireball as it crashed into the hill...with a trail of burning jet fuel. he saw two people thrown from the plane onto the road, they were on fire, trying to pat each other free of the flames. there was no way to get into the plane to check for other survivors. condolences to the families of the victims. god help the two survivors in their fight to pull through.

35. They almost died in a plane crash... and the other 4 in the plane died... and u 14 yr old idiots are making fun of Travis' tattoos and saying they need to shave... I'm sorry but I somehow don't think that shaving was on their mind when their bodies were on fire and their friends were dying... grow up and get a clue.

36. You guys need to stop letting other people's comments influence your mood. It's a form of manipulation and they're idiots so who cares what they think or say? They obviously have issues and have a miserable life anyway.

I'm glad Travis and DJ AM were quick enough to actually think about jumping out of the plane. I hope they survive and I really hope they don't harbour any guilt for the demise of the other passengers and crew. As for those that died, there's not enough words to express the sympathy I feel for their families. We can't even begin to imagine the emotional pain they're in at this moment. I'm sure a lot of people are praying for them right now.

The people who are wondering why Travis and DJ AM didn't "help" the others: we don't even know how long they had to make the decision of jumping out of the plane. An airplane can crash in a matter of seconds. For all we know the other passengers could have been asleep. Additionally, it's remarkably idiotic to assume the responsibility of another's safety when you don't even have control of your OWN safety!

38. If this had happened to Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Karl Rove, Sarah Palin or John McCain or any other member of the Republican party, you people would be laughing your A*** off and wetting yourself with glee. You're morally and culturally bankrupt morons.

39. What a stupid story. Might as well have said they saved their own lives by running from the burning plane. It;s not like they "jumped" out of the plane while it was in the air or anything. TMZ just trying to get page views.

Both were probably coked up anyway.

40. When I first found out I was like "omg!" That is so terrible, Barker is a legend..a talent, and people are laughing at this? how would you feel if your father or mother got injured in that way? How would you feel if you were in this catastrophic event? Geez. Even If it wasn't celebrities in this event it would still be awful. And then the jerks who are laughing and even people saying "did they only think of themselves and not try to help anyone else?" I mean really, the plane is on fire, they are burning, its not exactly that easy to save someone else without risking losing two lives. Their lucky they were even able to make it out alive you all are sick.

I pray for them and their families, to all aboard

41. To the person who said we should "Pray" for them................Maybe.......just maybe........If there was a "god" , You should have "Prayed" to him to "Not" let "any" planes crash at all.

Maybe no one on the plane prayed hard enough (by donating to a worthless church).........so God killed them

KILL YOUR GOD!!!!!!
He is nothing more than a figment of your imagination anyway.............

42. My cousin was the only survivor of a plane crash a few years ago - he had burns on his back that got infected and he died 2 weeks later, evern after having been in a hospital burn unit. The infection is what kills.

43. This is such a tragedy! I hope to hear that Travis and AM are doing well very soon. People say ''everything happens for a reason'' and I don't know that I believe this plane blew up for a 'reason' but I believe Travis and AM do have a reason to live. They both have incrdible talent and above all families anf friends who need and love them. I cant even recall whether Travis and Shanna are on again or off again ATM but I pray that her and the kids are doing ok and can find peace in the horrible event while Travis focuses on recovering.
As for the comments of people saying 'why didn't these guys help the others'. From the sounds of it if they had tried to help they would be dead right now only adding to the fatalities.
Get well soon Travis & AM... you rocked the VMA's!!! My thought and prayers are with the victims and their families who lost their lives.

44. One more thing, these guys just lost their friends and they are already going to feel guilt trying to figure out why they lived and everyone else died. They will have survivors guily w/out the few of you making it worse... Unless you have been in this situation you dont have any room to comment!

45. #1 you're a real idoit and jerk.. One of those "fools" as you so kindly put it, the co-pilot, was my daughter's uncle. The family is deeply distraught and at a loss. But I'm sure they'll thank you for your concerns.
