Sources tell us Travis Barker and DJ AM saved their own lives after their plane crashed by jumping out the door of the burning plane, almost immediately after the small jet came to a halt.
As we reported, both are at a burn center, but it could have been fatal. The Learjet was already on fire when they fled.

48. My 4 year old was in a burn accident and had 3rd degree burns on her head. I can tell you that a burn is the most painful injury you can have. They gave my daughter morphine and she was still in agony. Luckily with the help of AWESOME surgeons she is fully recovered with only two small scars. This being said I am praying for these guys. As far as jumping out of the plane, it was the right thing to do....get the hell out. I hope they recover, both are great artists and see like just cool people.

52. I wish DJ AM and Travis Barker well. My thoughts an prayers are with them and their family's. Also I am so sad to learn of the death of little Chris. My heart feels for his family and also Travis. I'm sure this is a very hard time for Travis as he was a big part of his heart and a best friend:(

55. what we need to remember is that people who post disrespectful comments on here are the ones who have given up on their own lives. they have nothing to do but sit around and slam people who have made successes of themselves. therefore, their comments don't really matter. life is the name of this big game. get over yourselves or get out. don't even try to drag the ones who are living their dreams down. i'm not a Christian or a member of any other religion, for that matter. but the universal truth is that we CAN all get along. life is good when people who achieve their dreams motivate the rest of us. my condolences to the families of all involved in this tragedy.

57. Such horrific news. These were guys who tried to make other people happy. They hurt nobody.
To those who post cruel comments, go back to your unhappiness or seek therapy for your unnatural and twisted emotions.
Most humans feel powerful sympathy for those who endure such a terrifying tragedy. I don't understand why bad things happen to good people. I really don't.
Travis had a rough childhood, folks. It has not all been Lear jets and supermodels. Now this. I am very sad for the victims, families and friends. I am grateful to people who make their life's work saving lives and helping other heal. People should worship paramedics and firefighters, not rock stars.
God bless them all.

I have a daughter and you can bet your ass my focus would be on seeing her again. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for both the boys ... stay strong! 59. There's no telling what was going on on that plane when it crashed. These men could have already been on fire when they jumped. Were they supposed to burn while putting out the fires that had engulfed the other passengers? Let's show a little compassion here instead of criticizing their actions to sustain their own lives. And let's not call the others who perished in this terrible accident fools for not jumping out. Obviously, their survival instincts would have taken over if it was at all possible for them to make it out alive and they, too, would have jumped. Epinephrine kicking in would have turned on their fight or flight modes and they would have gotten out if they could, so maybe there were just too many obstacles stopping the two who died in this crash from fleeing this burning aircraft. Don't call them fools because they died in a plane crash is basically what I'm saying because none of us were there to recount what really went on during the last few minutes of these men's lives.
