Full Recovery Expected for Barker and DJ AM

A doctor has announced that Travis Barker and DJ AM are expected to have a full recovery after yesterday's horrific plane crash.

Barker and Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein were severely burned yesterday when their Learjet crashed before takeoff from a Columbia, South Carolina airport. The crash killed four people, including Barker's assistant Chris Baker.

Dr. Fred Mullins, medical director of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, said both Travis and Adam suffered second and third-degree burns. Mullins said Barker's torso and Adam's arm and part of his head were burned.

46. #24 Jojo, not ALL burn survivors all face the same fate.

Yes, skin grafts will more then likely by in their future.

But this Dr gave a broad announcement about Travis & Adam. He did not break it down to detail. So we are at this moment jsut guessing what is the extent of their burns.

They are saying Adam's hands are burnt. That would make me think his days of being a DJ are over for now.
Months of grafting and rehab will prohibt him from doing such.

Travis, more the likely will lose the tattoos on his torso.

I just hope that his children will be able to see their father and touch him soon. He seems to be a wonderful father, and I bet it would kill him to not be able to hug his children.

They both face a long recovery, but given the area of the burns, which we don't know exactly, and the extent of the burns, they could very well go about living a "normal" life in about a year's time.

In my profession, we treat burn survivors, do the grafting. It's a difficult surgery, but one, if treated correctly, can be very successful. The most difficult part is hoping the graft takes, and heals properly. And the donation site as well.

47. It is by the grace of God that they survived, dont you think the devil would have snuffed them out if he had a chance? Divine Intervention. Another thing that stands out is a picture posted here taken of them before the accident, there is a direct beam of light shining over them, that stood out to me, that God was watching over them even before their fierey trial. Tomorrow is never promised.

50. "25. GOD was watching over them and I dont care what anyone says...My God continue to bless them and give them and their families strength through such a horrible time. GOD BLESS"
Wow, god must be really pissed at someone to have the power to intervene -- but only AFTER they've been burned and disfigured.

"16. Too bad people don't act this way about the troops that get burned and mutilated everyday in Iraq. I'm not saying anything bad about theses two, but soldiers are real heroes...not drummers."
^^ Best comment here.

51. there is a God. But lets also not forget how this travis dude was wearing a t-shirt that said " CURB YOUR GOD" Can someone please tell me why he was wearing this shirt? I did say a prayer for all of them but I still can't get over that fact. Explain that. No I'm not a fan of either one. I am wondering about that t-shirt. It's on TMZ.

You mean you believe there is a God. I'm sure your prayers to this magical entity will help heal their burns. Doctors should just pray instead of using medical science. We'd all live forever. Hallelujah!

54. Believe or not Gods hand kept them alive. Thank the Lord for that. I pray they both make a full recovery and I'm sure they understand there's a miracle here.

56. I am the idiot? I am not the one pronouncing the existence of something that cannot be proved, but must be accepted on faith. As for you asinine question, how about he wore it because he does not like people who push their beliefs onto others. He may be an idiot, but at least I can agree with that sentiment. God you are simple.

57. by nogod1, Do not ever underestimate the power of prayers and positive thinking. I do not believe in God, per se, since I am a pagan but I know there is a Divine Spirit who has responded to my prayers and those of others. Things happen that go against all odds too often for anything for science (including statistics although that is strictly speaking mathematics) for the world to be truly random. The fact that you do not wish to believe doesn't mean it isn't true.

58. Mark,

Yeah, I wonder why they didn't jump back into a fireball to save their friends as their own skin was bubbling and burning off... geez, GREAT QUESTION. FYI, the eyewitness said there was nothing any of them could do and that they were helping each other extinguish themselves because they were both on fire when they jumped out of the plane.

59. I believe in God but now is not the time for bashing him. It's about the recovery of two fathers and the grief of the other individuals that passed in this horrific accident here. There are no winners here. God does not leave anyone hangin'. Free will was given to us so you have the choice of accepting him or not. It is totally up to you but I do ask any atheist, how does it feel that no one cares about you? Why do you have such anger towards God believers that you attack them when they wish well to the victims' family? You wouldn't do that to a Buddist or Muslim... I would say for people who wanna bash each others faith I would say leave it for an article about questioning religion. Right now, I send condolences to EVERYONE involved in that accident.

Most of us are adults so it's time to start playing nice :-)

LOL. Did this divine spirit help your Sox win the series? If something happens that cannot be explained by logic or our understanding of natural science alone (something which does not happen all that often despite your protests to the contrary), this does not mean there is a divine being. It is more likely that there is in fact an explanation grounded in science, but we are simply not yet advanced enough to comprehend it. Again, reread what I posted. I didn't say that I know for a fact there is no God. I said that I see no evidence that he does and it is foolish for others to announce that he does, as if it is a fact. Just say you believe he exists.
