18. I watched the emmys, and the show was awful. The only thing good about it was a few minutes of Tom Selleck onstage, the rest sucked. Smothers Brothers was a terrific show back in the day, and hit many a nerve with the conservative party. Fortunately for all of us Freedom of speech even applies to this site, where one can see the world is still full of morons, and always will be, but people who buck the system, well, yes they are a dying breed. Kudos Tommy, better late than never.

19. It's because of Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Thought pioneers like Tommy that we can freely discuss and criticize the things we don't like. Sure, he's now a crusty, grumpy old foggy headed from too much weed elderly man but he was one of those who paved the way for radical thought and free speech on television.

22. Anna, as one of your so-called "old people" I was rather offended by your comment. Does that mean you also hate your parents and grandparents? God forbid you ever get old. Better watch out cause comments like that could come back to bite you in the ass. The Smothers Brothers show was in fact on the edge for its time with its commentaries and jokes that were meant to step on toes and mainly to get people to think. Isn't that what you "babies" want people to do - to have people think about what's going on in this world & do something rather than sitting on their rear ends not caring at all?

Freedom of speech is one of the great things about America. We each get to have our say, even if you don't like what you are hearing.

23. The Emmys turned into a Democrat fund raising event for the ## time. Why don't we call the Emmys the DNC Campaign headquarters. For the record , the financial meltdown is due to the policies of the democrats in the 1990's , by people like barney frank , shumer , Dowd (all democrats , the goverment run company is called Fanny Mae)

25. Mal Dillon, just out of curiosity, did you mean to spell it that way? Because given the meaning of mal, I find it an amusing play on words. Easily understood by someone who recognizes an attack ad hominem which an ill-educated child like FU2 can't.
I loved the Smothers Brothers Show. I have many of their LPs, (no CDs back then for you children too young to know that) and still enjoy listening to them. I may be an old woman by your standards but like Tommy Smothers, I have contributed a lot more to this world than you have and likely more than many of you ever will.
