This Chunky Monkey Tastes Like Aunt Esther ...

PETA has sent a letter to the co-founders of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream urging them to replace the cow's milk they use in their products for, ahem, human breast milk.

PETA claims human breast milk would cause less suffering for dairy cows and would make a healthier choice for humans. For their part, Ben and Jerry's say they applaud PETA's novel approach -- but believe a mother's milk is best for her child only.

Think of it this way ... Bristol Palin and Jamie Lynn could use their new motherhood for lucrative afterschool jobs!

16. This just proved to me the absolute insanity of PETA. Sure, how about I go the diner I just ask for a big old glass of Chocolate Breast milk?! Come on now. How about I also ask Ben and Jerry to toss in some semen while they are at it - I understand it's just chock full of protein! OK - It is definitely time to pass a law against STUPIDITY! Now I am going to their website to tell them so....

17. Is this real?!? How about the pain of pumping the breast milk? Yeah, let's save the MILK cows from the suffering of getting the MILK! DUH!!!

18. So they're not ok with cows getting milked but a HUMAN is ok? They're going to take away a HUMAN from their HUMAN CHILD (you have to have recently had a child for this to even be a possibility) to get their milk? This is absolute insanity.

19. that's nasty. I don't drink cow milk either. I get calcium other way as in tablets. I think we as humans are the only species that drinks the milk of other mamals. That's just grose y'all

20. I ALWAYS KNEW THIS ORGANIZATION WAS A SICK GROUP OF PEOPLE, IT'S ONE THING TO PROTECT ANIMALS BUT THIS IS WAY OVERBOARD.

21. I'm sorry, but breast milk is for infants....I think PETA went too far with this one. Nobody will take them serious anymore if they don't stop it. There are enough animals being mistreated that will keep them busy for years.

22. First of all, I like ice cream as much as the next guy, but only ever have it once in a while. Secondly, PETA, for all their good work that they do, they do a lot of effed up stuff too. BUT you must consider this:

Humans are the only species on the face of the planet that routinely drinks milk from another species, and even more importantly, humans are the only species on the planet that routinely drinks milk past infancy.

Forget about whether we were even "designed" to be herbivores or carnivores ... dairy products of any kind are the most unnatural things for us to eat.

And, as mentioned above, far more inhumane than even pig or chicken farming (which we all know is worse than cattle).

Loaded with chemicals, infectious goo, antibiotics to kill the infectious goo, synthetic hormones (estrogen-mimicking and growth) as well as the stress hormones produced by the cows themselves as a response to their torturous environment and treatment ...

DAIRY does not belong in our diet!!

BUT it's yummy. so ... IF you're going to do it anyway .... get the good stuff and avoid the cheap stuff!!! As they say ...
"If you're going to do something wrong, do it right." Organic, Local, and Fresh!!!

Enjoy!

24. "PETA claims human breast milk would cause less suffering for dairy cows and would make a healthier .........."

PETA needs to do research before making stupid statements.

If a cow isn't milked it could rip apart from the weight of the milk and pressure in their swollen glands. It would be seriously painful for the cow, who would suffer from engorgement and likely infections. It could lead to a painful death.

25. Less suffering for the dairy cows? Give me a break! Isn't that what God made cows for? Breast milk is for babies and I certainly do not want to eat ice cream made from someone else's breast milk. Gross! PETA, you are a bunch of idiots!!!

26. This is sick, sick, sick. And here's a question, can't the HIV virus be passed through breast milk? I know that women that are HIV+ are not supposed to breast feed their babies and I suppose there would be a screening process but we all know the recent stories of things 'slipping through' the rigorous efforts of cleanliness in many food products. I can just see the horrendous law suits now. I think PETA folks are cracked up, I've never seen a cow in distress over being milked, if anyone has ever breastfed you'll know how great it feels to have that pressure release by a suckling baby so I think the cows are probably thankful to be milked!

27. ROFLFAO!! First of all I grew up around dairy farms and the freaking cows don't suffer, but they sure would if they weren't milked. Do these idiots ever do any real research? They're completely insane. A lot of people don't do dairy for dietary reasons and that's fine but to state that dairy cattle suffer is just misinformation. They don't kill the freaking cattle, they milk them and it has to be done, unless PETA us suggesting that we allow dairy cattle to become extinct because that is what would have to happen. PETA tried to have some of the surviving pitbulls from the MIchael Vicks case destroyed claiming that they couldn't be rehabilitated. Well guess what, they were all successfully rehabilitated and placed in homes with the exception of two, one for health reasons and one was too aggressive and had to be destroyed. I don't give a flying f*ck about Pamela Anderson, she's an embarrassment, but I do wish other celebrities would stop supporting PETA. Stars like David Boreanaz could easily support animal rights without being associated with ignorant jackasses like PETA. Amanda Beardsley, the swimmer who used the olympics as an excuse to stage a press conference supporting PETA should have been kicked out of the games. She was there as an athlete, representing her team and her country, not to represent a bunch of domestic terrorists. PETA has done more harm to animal rights than anyone.

28. Depands on whose milk it is. If the milk is coming out of Cate Blanchett, Naomi Watts or Leona Lewis, then sign me up!

29. Are you kidding me??? They are DAIRY COWS!! how does peta know the cows are suffering, and why make a human suffer? I guess the women at peta are volunteering for this???

30. I always knew PETA was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far over the top but this is even more idiotic than I could have ever dreamed up for them. Hopefully this will be too much for everyone that supports them and a new animal rights organization with more realistic goals will form that will be taken seriously.
