First This all started in the late '90's when Clinton was in office. He took regulations off Freddie & Fannie and allowed them to loan money to people who couldnot afford the houses they bought.
Bush inherited that. Bush has done a much better job than he is given credit for.

Sen. McCain was one of 3 sponsors of Senate bill S190,the bill that would have averted this mess.

47. I can't feel very sorry for someone that had $200 million and lost all of it. I do believe that if Johnny Carson were alive he would buy his mortgage and clear that up but would want to be paid back when the property is sold. In regard to Merv Griffin, he was a billionaire so the $100,000 would not kill him either. His estate is just trying to get a judgment so they can put a lien on the property and hopefully collect when it is sold.

48. The Dumocrats want to blame everything on the Republicans. Where were these same people when this was going on? Isn't it their job to protect the people that voted for them? They've had control of the house for the last two years but still they want the American people to believe they had no idea what was going on. Why didn't they know? Where were they? Why didn't they warn their supporters?

Where was Barrak when this was going on? He didn't know? Why didn't he know? It is sad that still these idiots can't and won't come together and do what is in the best interest of the American People, all they want to do is point their fingers and place blame on everyone else. Why did it get this bad before he came out to the American people.

50. A loan is a loan is a loan. I have people borrow money from me all the time. If they dont pay me back, even $10, then I know the type of person they are in real life.
Many people say that someone should come to his aid. Where do these people come up with this stuff? If you live next to me and we make the same money, but 20 years later I have nothing because my wife and I were stupid and saved nothing should I ask you for help?

51. Okay, here's a great idea. The government bails all of us out, by giving all of us a chunk of the 700 billion to pay off our mortgages. That way it goes to back to the banks that we owe the money too and then they in turn have the money to lend to other people. Why should we just give these ass holes the money for being irresponsible? If they are going to take OUR money to bail these jerks out, siphoned it through us first. It would be just as ethical as the credit card companies being allowed to loan shark now. They would have been arrested and thrown into prison for these high interest rates they're now charging, years ago. It's called USERY, bunch of crooks. I'll take my share now, and they can send me a check as soon as they approve my bail out plan.

52. In the world these people move in, $100 Grand is pocket change. I don't know why Merv Griffin's company is plopping this into Ed's lap, unless they want to write it off on their taxes and have to first demonstrate that they attempted to collect and were unsuccessful. That would be my best guess. But hey - since $100K is just lunch money for these Hollywood moguls, maybe a couple of them would like to lend ME $100K? I promise not to pay it back, either. And while $100 Grand might only be a couple of house payments to Ed, to me it would be the answer to my prayers. Heck, i could actually buy food! And a tank of gas! Wow! What a concept!
