Celebrity Justice
Judge to Khloe K -- Stop Dragging Ass

The other Kardashian sister was in court today for a progress hearing on her DUI -- and nearly blew it when the judge learned she hadn't completed her required drug and alcohol classes by today's scheduled appearance.

The judge scolded the reality star this morning for missing more than one of her classes -- but Kimmy's sis says it wasn't her fault. KK blamed holidays that fell on scheduled class dates (they were closed) and over booked sessions (not enough seats) kept her from fulfilling her obligation -- but the judge wasn't having it.

The "Celebrity Apprentice" wannabe was still given until November 17 to complete her last class and is required to fly back from NYC this month to do a day's work in an L.A. morgue.

31. Why do so many of these comments resemble personal attacks on Miss (Khloe) Kardashian? Her issues with the court and third party opinions about her weight are not related. To those who see fit to make hurtful, disparaging remarks about her 'weight' - I doubt, very highly, your genes are so blessed.

Each of the Kardashian sisters are attractive in their own way - regardless of what their public personas are - however, Khloe, is the lovliest - period. Hands down, breathtaking and absolutely beautiful to behold. No matter what size.

32. What putrid pigs these kardashians are. Remember that Daddy rose to fame for hiding OJs bloody murder evidence. His kids are disgusting. If my dog had a face like that I'd shave his ass and teach him to walk backwards.

33. Hal said " It is obvious why she is thumbing her nose at the court. A woman does not do jail time for a non violent crime. " Celebrity women, maybe. The rest of us - dream on.

Actually, most women in jail are in there for nonviolent crimes: theft, kiting checks, drug/alcohol related crimes, etc. etc. etc. They very definitely get sentences that must be served on a non-celebrity timeline.

Statistics vary from place to place, but just casual googling suggests at least up to 3/4 of female prisoners committed nonviolent crimes. The figure might be even more in some places. While everybody was saying Paris Hilton should be released early because she was so "nonviolent" (although I would say DUI is not really nonviolent), there were many women in the same jail who had been there for months (women with longer sentences than a year generally are sent to prisons), who also were quite nonviolent, who often had kids to worry about, and who should have been in line for early release first if overcrowding were really an issue. Many are caught in mandatory sentencing laws, especially for drug-related activities, no matter how minor their role. Poverty is the major factor determining who gets arrested and who gets the longest sentence, and all other statistics (e.g., racial/ethnic breakdowns) have to be interpreted with that in mind. Women with children are more likely to be poor.

The US is so intent on criminalizing many types of activity not really considered a major threat to the public elsewhere that we now have 25% of the world's prison population, while we have only a few percent of the world's population. We also have the highest per-capital incarceration rate (more than 0.7%; that's six times the rate for the UK and Australia, for instance). About half of US prisoners are in for drug-related crimes. How great to be Number One!

35. Hey #32 jwoolman

Paris was never charged with DUI since she was .08 it was reduced to reckless driving with alcohol involvement. She was sentenced to jail for driving while her license was suspended which is as non violent as you can get.

Only 6 people in a 5 year period (over 4000 convicted) went to jail for that offense for as long or longer than Paris.

Paris was never offered early release yet the sheriff said publicly that all non violent prisoners are released when they have served 10% of their original sentence. He said that when he released Michelle Rodriguez who got 180 days for multi DUI and lying about doing her community srvice Michelle was released after 18 days.

Since the Paris era the federal guidelines and the sheriff have been sticking to processing in and out all non violent women in Los Angeles that is why the last time Khloe did 4 hours on a 30 day sentence.

Drug crimes are not considered non violent under the federal guidelines.

The only way she could be jailed for more than 24 hours is if the judge rules that her offense is contempt then she could be sent to jail or even prison which is extremely unlikely.

Paris and the upcoming Britney trial are perfect examples of a failed judiciary. Britney is going to trial because the DA wants 1 year probation for driving in California with a valid out of state license. The same DA is running for city attorney and has been milking her for free publicity for a year.

36. I don't agree with Khloe making excuses to the judge, but I think she is a hoot. She's always the one on their show making jokes, laughing, cutting up, etc. As for Kim, she's a lost soul, I hope she finds her place in this crazy world, just like the rest of us are trying to do. I think their mom is a strange bird, it seems like she so wants to be a star and is riding on Kim's coattails.

39. WOW...everybody hates this family! I think Bruce Jenner should be off limits....he is the only one with legitimate talent!!!! But, the rest of them are spoiled brats. Mom is not being a mom. She is being selfish! I think she wants to be famous at any cost. The girls are pretty...I don't get why some of you call them ugly...or fat...what?! What is ugly is their attitude...that they are special and the rules don't apply to them. Kim is a spoiled brat and that makes her ugly. Chloe needs her mouth washed with lye soap and a foot up her ass...for being so disrespectful. Mom you must be proud?! It was your job to raise these girls to be respectable women..you failed big time...she talks like white trash! And shame on you for putting the 2 young girls on a reality show. YUCK! You are sooo Hollywood....and you're a joke !

40. On the Paris Hilton/nonviolent crime front again: She went to jail for violating probation, not just for driving on a suspended license (twice). She also didn't complete the drunk driving course in a timely manner as ordered for probation, and also was caught driving very recklessly on the suspended license. In other words - she avoided jail for the original DUI, but blew it when she refused to comply with the terms. Probation is intended as a second chance to avoid jail time, the rules are that you keep your nose clean for the duration or you end up in jail. If you must drive on a suspended license, for instance, at least be smart enough not to attract attention by driving badly. Khloe had better pay attention...

In California, pleading down to a wet reckless is still treated as a DUI generally on your record and as far as the DMV is concerned - it just greatly simplifies the court proceedings, especially for rich people who have lawyers tying up the court otherwise. But Hilton really wasn't jailed for a DUI, but rather for violating probation. At least 20% of similar cases drew at least as much time as she served even in her extremely lenient county. The fact that she showed up late and lied to the judge about knowing about the license suspension (when she had signed a statement of understanding and was driven home by her passenger on the first warning) didn't help... Yes, that counts. Judges look for signs of remorse, and she didn't have any. She was lucky she didn't get the maximum and charged with perjury.

The fact that the sheriff in her county is a corrupt son of a gun who lets celebs go through a revolving door doesn't mean that she was treated unfairly when actually made to serve the sentence as specified by the judge. Many people in other California counties and other states have served much longer sentences for less.

I don't know anything about the Britney Spears license case, but my guess is that there is more to the story than we've heard on TMZ. I would advise clemency in her case because she was so out of it at the time and is obviously on track now, but she might have ignored a lot of warnings before the law starting playing hardball on the matter. It also was rather obvious that she was still driving, because the paps follow her everywhere. The price you pay for being famous is that everybody is aware of your actions, including the authorities - that's what prevented Paris Hilton from slipping under the radar when the sheriff let her go against judge's orders, too. A regular person out of camera range might have gotten away with it - but then a regular person wouldn't have inspired the sheriff to be so friendly and so completely disregard the judge's very clear stipulations.
