2Pac's Producer Kills Self In Jail

A DUI bust may have triggered the suicide of a big time hip-hop producer.

Johnny Jackson, aka Johnny J -- famous for such albums as Tupac Shakur's "All Eyez on Me" -- was in L.A. County Jail after getting arrested for DUI. Authorities say he took his own life by jumping off a tier in the jail.

Johnny J also produced the epic jam "Knockin' Boots" by Candyman.

He leaves a wife and two children. He was 39 years old.

32. It was only a DUI! Things couldn't have been that bad. If you want bad, live my life. I pray his soul is saved.

33. Yes, Los Angeles County Jail will take a "star"/"celebrity" into custody if they break any laws. They are not above the law! Anyway, you never know what's really going on in a persons life. You never really know about their past lives, what they've to others, etc. Karma is a bitch!

34. L.A. County is atrocious. He was thrown off. Never in a million years does anyone reading this story living in L.A. think for a minute this is a suicide. I agree with the sheriff's comments written above, and add that some of the C.O's can be as bad or worse as the inmates. Anyone watch The Shield?

35. This sounds fishy to me. Maybe the jail guards threw him over. Maybe the inmates.

My sister and I used to go to his house and play, my mom used to drop him off at school, my dad and his dad used to work on cars together. My heart goes out to his family. 40. When are the services for Johnny J? Will there be a public viewing?

41. Jumped off or PUSHED OFF, sounds fishy to me. were were the guard rails? Can get on with your life after a DUI, classes, and a chauffeur. Come on, suicide at 39 yo. any prior history of depression etc.? needs investigation.

43. I agree with Robreid. He didn't "jump". Robreid has the swamp land in Arizona and I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd be happy to sell. Anyone who jumps off a tier in jail was given some major help!! However, my sympathies do go out to his wife and kids.
