2Pac's Producer Kills Self In Jail

A DUI bust may have triggered the suicide of a big time hip-hop producer.

Johnny Jackson, aka Johnny J -- famous for such albums as Tupac Shakur's "All Eyez on Me" -- was in L.A. County Jail after getting arrested for DUI. Authorities say he took his own life by jumping off a tier in the jail.

Johnny J also produced the epic jam "Knockin' Boots" by Candyman.

He leaves a wife and two children. He was 39 years old.

49. Something's not right with this picture - jumping off a tier in custody, just over a DUI. Also, typical of TMZ to post a pic and not bother to point out which person they are talking about.

56. Legendary Death Row vocalist Nanci Fletcher ("Keep tha heads ringin",etc) has issued a statement in response to the tragic death of producer and dear friend, Johnny J. An integral part of the Death Row legacy, Ms.Fletcher,is considered to be one of the most reclusive original members of the rap dynasty.

Her statement reads: I an stunned and deeply saddened to hear about the death of such a talented and positive person. In addition to being an amazing producer, Johnny J was a good friend and a truly inspiring spirit. He always radiated humor and an infectious optimism. My memories of recording with Johnny on projects for Tupac, his lovely wife Capucine and others are sprinkled with laughs and happiness. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with him and create music that will stand as hip-hop "evergreens". It is easy to see why Tupac adored Johnny. My prayers go out to his family, his lovely wife Capucine and his many fans. The love between Johnny and Capucine was rare and I was blessed to witness such affection between two people. Johnny J loved life and there will be time later to question the facts about his death. For now, we must focus on his great legacy of music and honor his wonderful spirit. My only comfort is the hope that he rejoins his friend Tupac and is finally at peace.

57. You know, I am not seeing or reading anything about Johnny's daughter before he married and this is a travesty!!! I am hoping no one is forgetting or kicking this child to the side out of greed! If so, I feel sorry for them!
