Celebrity Justice
Britney Spears -- The Trial Must Go On

Common sense has not prevailed.

Britney Spears' driving without a license trial will continue as scheduled, according to a ruling released today. Brit and her people were trying to have the case put on hold or dismissed entirely. But alas, things will go on as planned.

A pretrial hearing is set for tomorrow with the real thing set to begin next Wednesday.

Just a reminder -- this is a trial over a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid California driver's license. It's not like she broke into a hotel room with a few armed friends in an attempt to steal back sports memorabilia. Priorities, people.

4. Of Course! Just Let Her Off. She's A Celebrity. Give Her Special Treatment! The Rest Of Us Will Sit Here, Follow The Law And If We Break It .. Be Thrown In Jail! But No Go Ahead Let Someone Like Her Get Off Free! Freakin Ridiculous!

5. Hopefully, the state of California will revoke Britney's drivers license so she won't be out terrorizing motorists on the already overcrowded freeways and streets. She's a horrendous driver who should rely on someone else to chauffeur her to Starbuck's and Rite Aid. Her smug, uncaring attitude when she hit the parked car MUST be dealt with firmly; she is not above the law and should be held accountable for her actions.

7. GIVE HER THE DEATH PENALTY, AND SPARE US THE AGONY OF HAVING TO READ ABOUT HER CRAP OVER THE NEXT 20 YEARS!

8. Oh sure, priorities! Just face it and get it over with Britney. If you're able to act on sitcoms, go on radio shows and perform in music videos I think you are well enough to go to court.

9. Priorities People? How arrogant of the TMZ moron who wrote this story. This trial is about a young woman who continually ignored her responsibility to get a California drivers license. She was warned numerous times, yet she continuously turned her nose up at the law; meanwhile, she was out driving all over the place without a license & without any insurance, in full view of the police. Not only was she an arrogant little princess, but she rubbed everyone's nose in it & endangered the public.

This didn't have to be a trial; it could have been pled out many times & she could have paid a little fine, but stupid doucheney spears & her attornies are trying to make a federal case out of this so her attornies can earn their thousands of dollars an hour. So, instead of doing the smart & easy thing like the DA wanted to do, her attornies pushed for a trial. Now, we waste taxpayer dollars convicting a stuck up mental retard of something she could have easily taken care of in 1 day for less than $100; now it's going to cost her hundreds of thousands of dollars instead. It pays to follow the law; it's something doucheney spears will soon find out...

10. Hey #5 ditzymae: public displays of your stupidity are unwise. The charges against her for hit and run were settled and dropped months ago.

Now is the last time for this prosecuitor to milk some more free publicity as he runs for city attorney. The real disgrace to California is that there is no one with authority to step in and end this farce.

Hope she does not get as much jail time as Paris, someone should tell her not to be late for court.

12. AWWW poor Britney . She was doing so much better now and has been back at working on her music carreer and all that and now the court have to drag her back into trial? geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz why can't they just let her off the hook . She has earn her right now to be out of it as a celebrity to impress people , fans, and paparazzi. She so back on track now and goddddddddddddd why the court, the law has to bring her back into this? they just want to ruin her chance of becoming the hot Britney she use to be. Britney is cool

13. Britt has really done very good, she should get a fine,no reason to jail her for a simple misdemeanor, let her get the proper paper work, maybe the pap will quit stalking her, that I really doubt, she has done the time, let her have her kids back and leave her alone

Posted at 8:22PM on Oct 7th 2008 by Very Impressed

14. SOMEONE WANTS TO RIDE ON BRITNEY'S POPULARITY....Someone needs publicity....someone wants to get his/her name out there...might be running for future office...or wants a promotion down the line....Sources says that Britney has acquired her driver's license already....why not just slap her with a fine....This is just going to waste the taxpayermoney....there are more hardened criminals out there than this misdemeanor charge....What in the world are the authorities thinking??????

15. I remember this charge. She had a drivers license for Louisanna and this over failing to get a California license after becoming a resident. In most states she would pay a fine and get her license, I never heard of such a dumb law. You should go to court if u are driving without a license at age 12...or revolked for dui and the likes of that..How bout a defensive driving course so she learn the california laws for the highwayll.
