Britney to Prosecutor: I Ain't No Krimin'l, Y'all

Britney SpearsThe biggest case since Manson was tried was played out today in an L.A. County criminal court.

Britney Spears, about to go on trial for the heinous crime of driving without a valid California license, was offered a deal to make the case go away -- a $150 fine, and 12 months probation.

Britney's lawyer, Michael Flanagan, told TMZ ... no way Jose. He's not going to cop a plea to a criminal offense.

16. The prosecutor is obviously wanting a probation sentence banking on Brits past record with problems...He wants to make money for the county. Brits a good cash cow if she screws up. My guess is Brit had a chance to clear this up after she got her California license but didn't make the court date, Therefore, instead of letting her prove she had her license and pay fine . he sees possible opportunity for his office in the future..

YOU really need to grab a life!!

What on earth are you thinking?? The maximum penalty available --?? To bad the law doesn't prosecute imbiciles like yourself or you would be serving a fair amount of time!!!

19. I agree this is a waste of my tax payers money, this is really a joke come on guys, she had a license just did not have it in the correct state she made her residence, I cannot believe you are making such a big deal out of this, all she deserves is a fine, she got a CA license as soon as she was made aware of it. States love wasting tax payers money.

20. This is why braindead celebrities & their egotistical mouthpieces should be charged EXTRA taxes for us to have to put up with their stupidity. This whole thing could have been taken care of easily, but doucheney spears & her arrogant attornies are wasting our tax dollars to play games. I say F*CK THEM. Toss their stupid dumbasses in jail; give doucheney the chair. The less of her everyone has to deal with, the better...

21. Pay the fine and take the probation.
She has costs the taxpayers and LA's Finest a lot of money over the years to protect her and get her out of some interesting situations alive and in one piece. She's lucky that they want to make a deal. Hope she has learned her lesson about hr "handlers" who should have taken care of this for her.

23. She is taking up space in an already over-crowded court system...and getting more media attention as well. Can't she handle anything on her own? She has to hire an attorney to decide something as simple as this? She was driving without a valid license, which is against the law, and now has to deal with it. She needs to grow up in a big way.

24. She turned down this offer and will stand trial. What can the judge give her:

1 year in county jail a fine of $1000 and probation for up to 3 years.

Jail time is not likely and even if he gave her the 45 days Paris got she would only sign in and sign right back out.

A fine more than $500 would be excessive but would probably pass appeal review.

Probation highly likely, what is a violation of probation is a HUGE question.

Is she being singled out for excessive punishment compared to say the average punishment given over the last 3 years for this offense: thats for time and research to tell.

What should she do? Wait for the judge to make his decision. and then......

SHe is getting back on the top of her game, she might want to help the prosecuitors opponent in the upcoming election. She could call in favors from around the world and trash this guy and I would love to see her do it.

25. Something is definitely wrong with this whole picture. It's not like she was just driving without a license or a revoked or suspended one... she HAS one, just in another state. It can be confusing when you own property in several different states, too. Sounds like someone wants some attention in the courthouse.

26. Ok...whatever...im pretty brits fan means maximum, which is also a penalty. I agree. I'm tired of the sorry excuse for a human getting away with everything. It's BS. Maybe you...whatever...should get the cob out of your bum. Moron.

27. When will this Cat Funt just drop dead?

28. If she takes the plea deal, she'll have a misdemeanor on her record and they don't want that. But, in the long run, her attorney is making all the money with all the court dates and then a trial and possible appeal, if she's found guilty. Gotta love those attorneys.
