Celebrity Justice
Britney to Prosecutor: I Ain't No Krimin'l, Y'all

Britney SpearsThe biggest case since Manson was tried was played out today in an L.A. County criminal court.

Britney Spears, about to go on trial for the heinous crime of driving without a valid California license, was offered a deal to make the case go away -- a $150 fine, and 12 months probation.

Britney's lawyer, Michael Flanagan, told TMZ ... no way Jose. He's not going to cop a plea to a criminal offense.

31. Spears again proves she's a complete moron and is now going to spend tens of thousands more to try to disprove it using shark lawyers who probably charge about that fine per hour, or more!

32. Britney is too mentally ill to stand trial. Just look into her eyes in photos and you see that she is not rational. The girl is just flat crazy and never will be the same as the old Britney!!!

34. The court order is so wrong to put Britney on this charge. It's rediculous that this still goes on. She just had to pay a fine but why are they making her do probation for? after a long battle with her mental issue and finally gotback to be normal and the stupid court won't even let her off that charge? not even a charge if thats what they call it cause all it is was just a driver license issue. I can see that the court just want to make most celebrity life miserable and to bring them down .Britney was sure to be one of the victim. Thats not justice. What is important now is that Britney Spear .....one of the greatest celebrity ....our star and entertainer should be just let off with out a charge , no case, no trial needed cause all that is just the past now. Let the new Britney Spear continue on her carreer now !!!!! let her live happyier and free with her kids, family, and to work peacefully on her new music album. We are anxcious to see more from her. She is great!!

35. So you're saying that the court should give her special treatment because she has created on going legal nightmares for herself and this should give her a pass on any further legal issues? Ummm.....that's just idiotic!

40. In what world does a misdemeanor traffic citation get tried in criminal court??

Not the real one, hence the reason I can prove that nearly everything about this woman in the media is staged because it generates her millions in revenue without having to work, By law, no tabloid can use her likeness or image without her expressed permission because what they published is not deemed as news worthy under the freedom of the press.

In other words, the paparazzi you all believe harass her actually work for her, get a percentage of those pics and the bulk of the profit goes in her pocket, For starters, court costs alone in Los Angeles are going to be easily $150, the fine for hitting a car and driving without a license is going to be about triple that. As far as probation goes, it generally takes quite a bit more than a traffic misdemeanor like this to get put on probation and as I already mentioned, she's being tried in a municipal traffic court, not criminal court, there's a HUGE difference.

Hey but you saw it on TV and read it everywhere so surely it's true huh...ya bunch of idiots.

41. I don't get it. If she gets probation doesn't that mean she can't leave the state of California? Doesn't she have a world tour planned? Can't really do that when you're on probation. Who knows, I may be wrong but maybe that's why Britney rejected the plea deal.

42. I just checked FindLaw, and it's not just a license problem. This is part of the action against Britney for the hit-and-run she committed while not having a valid California license. She had a private agreement with the owner of the car about payment for damages, but that apparently is not sufficient to get rid of it all. The judge said that in similar cases, he had never agreed to reduce the charge from misdemeanor to infraction. So it doesn't really sound as though she is being singled out - she just isn't getting special treatment from either the judge or the prosecutor (who also says the procedure is the same for others with the same situation).

When comparing cases, you have to include the hit-and-run aspect, not just the invalid license issue. If she hadn't hit and run, she wouldn't be in more trouble now. When damage is involved, that also typically makes the action more serious in the eyes of the law. I think that's all that's happening here. The conservatorship just delayed things.. But the misdemeanor charge is sticking - as it would for a non-celebrity.

It really seems more like her attorney is prolonging the agony to get more money out of her. He said he isn't going to do anything to defend against the charge, but will just sit there and then drag it through appeals. What a waste of the court's time and Britney's money... Britney doesn't care, she doesn't even have to show up in court for a misdemeanor.

43. Let the Prosecutor do his job! The only reason why this has gone for so long cos Brit is a total wack job. Thats why she doesnt have her kids in her care. And whats so hard paying a fine that is ONLY $150 and being on probation?
