Butler Kicks Butt -- LAPD Investigates

We've learned Gerard Butler is under criminal investigation for allegedly assaulting a photog.
It allegedly went down early Tuesday in L.A. Gerard was leaving Crown Bar at 2:00 AM and got into his limo. The photog claims he was following Gerard's limo in a car, when the limo suddenly stopped. Gerard supposedly got out of the limo, approached the photog and asked why he was tailing him.

To that, the photog says he responded, "Hey, that's my job." Gerard allegedly then reached in the car, grabbed the photog's throat and and punched him three or four times. Butler allegedly then kicked the car and again punched the photog three or four times -- close-fisted -- for good measure.

The photog went to the hospital for stitches and then filed a police report. The LAPD confirms they're looking into the case and plan on interviewing Gerard.

No immediate comment from Gerard's people.

16. I think this is a good look for paps, they should all be sporting fat lips. His job isn't to follow anyone. They shout out nasty stuff to get reactions, violate people's space, stampede, impede traffic, create hazardous conditions for bystanders, on and on. I think this is the new pap look for fall. Snappy!

17. Gerard should be thankful that photogs even give a damn. He chose to be in a profession where paparazzi will follow. if he doesn't want to be followed, stay out of LA. Violence is never the answer. Hope they throw the book at him. He's not even that attractive. Kind of a Russell Crowe thing going for him, who's also not that attractive. Violent personalities make them even uglier.

26. Action:

So you think that paps following celebrities to their homes, hanging out in their drive ways, climbing trees and roof tops so that they can try to get photos of them, in their own back yard, is ok? That's not "doing their job". That's stalking. Plain and simple.

But if you think it's no big deal, why don't you have a camera man, following you around all day, photographing your every move - eating, shopping, picking up your kids from school, walking around in your house, driving your car, etc. Let's see how long you would last before you finally snap.

28. don't you have video of him that night trying to pick up on some girl and then he gets into his car and drives himself home? How could he have then been in a limo? And how could he have gotten out of that limo and assaulted the pap?

30. Since when is it legal to stalk someone as part of a job? This guy got what he deserved. If this guy takes him to court he better be prepared to answer for his own actions!
