The Duke

The 61-year-old resurfaced at a Hollywood event, looking thrilled.
Patty Duke
At the age of 12, Patty had to testify in front of a congressional panel after appearing on rigged quiz show "The $64,000 Question."

Duke is the mother of "Lord of the Rings" star Sean Astin and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 1982.

18. Wow, such nice comments...except for one jerkface. It would have been TMZ's first all positive comment section.

19. She sort of looks like she's related to Jane Fonda -- something I would have never thought of before. EVER.

Hope all's well, Patty! Good to see you!

20. The people of upstate New York love her...especially when she performs at Corning. She is a very lovely woman and has stayed close to her roots. You are beautiful inside and out!

21. I never thought I would comment on a TMZ site, but I just wanted to join the crowd that is supporting Patty Duke. But why are we focusing on looks so much? She is an excellent role model for mothers, the mentally ill, actors and just plain pepple. Our nation is way too hung up on looks! There is so much more to people. Think about it.

24. Why the focus on what she looks like? Get a clue. Your physical beauty will fade with age. Your inner beauty is the only thing, yes, the only thing that matters. She's smiling, she looks happy. Bravo brave lady. She's been very courageous (along with Kitty Dukakis and others) who have been in the public spotlight and been willing to talk about their mental illness which helps reduce the stigma for the non-famous people who have the same illness.

She is a real class act. Worth a thousand Paris Hiltons.

25. I loves me some Patty Duke! I remember the days when she was NUTS...claiming Desi Arnez Jr was the father of her kid (who turned out to be either McKensie, or was it Sean?? Daddy was actually John Austin, Mr. Gomez himself of the Adams Family!) Lord...so much drama back then...
Do any of you remember her in Valley Of The Dolls??? She was a trainwreck back then but she was always fun and oh so talented!
LOVE HER!

26. She looks wonderful. For all that she's been through, I admire her resilience and her wonderful smile. Would love to see the detractors in these comments when they turn 60. It's amazing how you will change!

27. She looks really good..I think she is pretty! You people who don't think so are probably under 20. When you get to be in your 60's you will appreciate that wrinkles are not a horrible thing. I would rather look like Patty than all ironed out like Cher. You will change your mind about what is attractive as time goes on.

29. I will always LOVE LOVE LOVE Patty aka Anna. I've always wondered what happened to the English actress who played Cathy? (NOT!)

30. HELLLLLLOO! This is what a 61 year old woman really looks like when not enhanced with botox injections, face lifts, fat blown into the lips. This is what a truly REAL woman who has been through it all, and then some, looks like. I think she has the look of someone who put a lot of other people before herself for many years. She looks great to me. At least you can see that she has (even with all the tough times in her life) SMILED. Patty, you look great!
