B.J. to Palin: You Give My Music a Bad Name

Jon Bon Jovi just gave us a statement, bitterly complaining that Sarah Palin has been using the band's song during her rallies yesterday and today:

"We are surprised to hear that our song, "Who Says You Can't Go Home" was used by the McCain campaign at rallies yesterday and today. We wrote this song as a thank you to those who have supported us over the past twenty-five years. The song has since become a banner for our home state of New Jersey and the defacto theme song for our partnerships around the country to build homes and rebuild communities. Although we were not asked, we do not approve of their use of 'Home.'"

Jon Bon Jovi threw a dinner at his home for Obama -- $30,800 a plate. Bon Jovi is the latest to complain about McCain's campaign using songs. Heart, Foo Fighters, John Mellencamp and Jackson Browne have also griped.

61. To the liar on comment-page 1 (regarding Obama's natural-born citizenship):

McCain and Obama's parents were both citizens of the US, therefore they are both natural-born citizens. McCain was born in Panama, yet is still considered a natural-born citizen. Obama was born in Hawaii. Even if the ridiculous conspiracy theory that he was born elsewhere were true, he would STILL be a natural-born citizen as his parents were citizens.

So, whether you're repeating some right-wing lie correctly or incorrectly, what you're doing is still disgusting and people are not buying it.

62. Seems like McCain and Palin are unable to project even the least bit of common sense - or originality. This is quite an accurate indicator of what a McCain/Palin win would result in!!!

63. It is music to be enjoyed by all, no?? What a bunch of whiners

64. 12. All this cry babying over their music being used by McCain/Palin, but no one is talking about how Obama has yet to prove he is a natural born US citizen as the Constitution states he must be to run for president. Why won't he provide his birth certificate and medical records? What is he hiding? He has been ordered by a judge to provide this information and still refuses.
But instead we're talking about how Sarah Palin likes to hunt, just like millions of other American citizens.
No wonder this country is in the state it is.

66. FU Bon Jovi...Losers...

67. Geez, what a baby!!! Someone should tell JBJ that he doesn't get to choose which political party's campaign uses his music . Someone's political affiliation shouldn't matter in the least, here. He should be flattered, actually, that ANY campaign likes his music enough to want to make use of it. What does JBJ want to do...Check whether someone is a liberal Democrat before he lets them buy his music? Get real, get a clue, and get a life!

68. Bon Jovi hasn't put out any newsworthy music in two decades, he should be thankful he's getting publicity from Sarah, who is infinitely more popular (not to mention better looking) than Obama. Let's not forget BJ, if Nobama does win, you will be in the tax bracket that gets raised. Oh excuse me, taking from the rich (BJ) and giving to the poor (the rest of us). Redistribution sucks! Vote McCain/Palin

69. 53. First let me start by saying Bon Jovi has always been my favorite artist. Forget that, I am sick to death of the "Entertainment Industry" because they have a camera up their ass telling the rest of us how to think....I have never voted for a republician until now..I came across a saying somone wrote about Obama "the evil lives within". Look at his name his associations, where are his student loans? How did he afford his home? How did he afford to travel like he did? Attend the schools he did. Bon Jovi KISS MY ASS AND KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF, I will not buy another CD of yours. Your are a bunch of puss...you have to attack a women? BE A MAN

RIGHT ON!!! Why do all the dictators and terrorists want Obama elected? And where is all that campaign money coming from anyway?!!

70. Dear commenter "Cry babies" on page 4. I had just previously debunked "Fed Up"'s comment on page 1 about Obamas citizenship (also on page 4). You might want to check it out before continuing to look like an idiot.

By the way, I don't know if you guys know this, but the McCain campaign has recruited people to lie both on the internet and in person about Obama. Lying to win -- quite a popular Republican tactic nowadays, despite the fact that it runs counter to mainstream American values.

71. Ben, the RNC purchased a catalog - so I am assuming that the Bon Jovi song is question was listed. Believe me, I think Sarah Palin has better things to do then pick out music to be played at each rally. The Repub organization that is holding the rally stages everything - from handing out tickets to stage setup.

74. I'm embarrassed to admit that I was a Bon Jovi fan in the 80's. People made fun of me then, and people still make fun of them now. Jon Bon Jovi is nothing but a big, hairy liberal cry-baby. Shame on anyone for using such trashy songs to begin with. Hopefully the last mistake the McCain/Palin campaign will make. I'm sure there are plenty of country artists who would write a good song, much better than hairball Bon Jovi could ever write. What's that line that Denis Leary says "Hey Jon, there's a hairdresser on board, hop on"! when he is talking about why the crummy celebrities never die in plane crashes, it's always the good ones...
