Are the people making the laws in CA, just as "out of it" as many of today's young celebrities in Hollywood?? This is beyond being ridiculous!! Are they waiting for them to kill someone? But then being a celebrity, they would probably still make a excuse for what they did! And a reasonable person can see and justify where driving without a license would be far more dangerous than drinking and driving! Pathetic and sad!

67. You turn on any news channel and you hear California is broke and they need billions of dollars to survive or else and then you see a trial for brittney over a drivers licensing issue??? Come on!!!!! Exactly how much do you think that cost??? It was a waste from the beginning AND...most of the the people who run that state are total idiots!!!!!!! I often said if I was on welfare or assisted income thats the state I would want to live in... you can get beautiful housing... some of them even have fireplaces in the bedrooms!!!!! and hey if you need health insurance....you pay no tab at all including cosmetic dental work!!!!!... The states broke??? go frickin figure!!!!!!!!!!!!.....How about priorities first ...then worry about some star who has houses in 4 different states all of which she can call her full time home and have a valid drivers license in one if them and stop wasting the tax payers money...Theres alot of good people who live in California but theres also alot of idiots who run and live in that state also... and thats why the majority of the country thinks that state is a frickin joke...nice to visit?? yeah.... its probably one of the most beautiful states out there but also one of the most radical!!!! You're right. To be precise, it was Britney's lawyers and dad, on behalf of her, who insisted on going to court, not the prosecutors.

Therefore, the stupid waste of taxpayers' money was caused by Britney's estate (conservatorship), not any government or law-enforcement officials.

first of all, they didn't hold britney at all. they issued her a misdemeanor citation. the celebs that get held for a few hours also get issued the same kind of citation after they are released, although in some cases, they are cited for a felony. so those celebs who are caught drinking and driving are stil being treated worse than immature queen spoiled brat britney.

but you're right that these celebs are usually treated much better than you or i would be treated if we were nailed for the same crimes. that is what's wrong with the picture.

britney's people decided to make a court case out of this. i'm guessing that it's because they felt that a jury would be sympathetic to their mindless idiot ward britney due to the fact that she's a celebrity who's being painted as a poor, misunderstood, mentally ill victim. apparently, this is exactly why ten of the jurors voted to acquit her, despite the fact that she deliberately flouted the same law multiple times.

that would never happen to me or you if we took the same arrogant attitude and ignored the laws of our city, state, or country.

What a bunch of idiocy!! It's a crime because there are laws on the books in California (and every other state) that specify that it is illegal to drive a car without a valid license.

As was mentioned here a number of times, in California, a person who drives and who spends at least six months living in that state is required by law to get a Calif. driver's license.

Britney was caught twice in two years driving without a valid Calif. license, and both times, she was informed of that law and told that she must get one. She refused both times. Then, when caught a third time driving without that license, the government did to her what they would do to you and me if we deliberately flouted the same law THREE TIMES IN A ROW: they charged her with a misdemeanor.

That's the way things work in this country. Are you perhaps from a different part of the world where there is no such thing as a justice system, or where there are no such things as laws?

Or are you a product of the American educational system, which spews out millions of ignorant, lazy, immature, know-nothing bigmouths every year?
