23. James De Barge is a great producer who so sadly has gotten on drugs alot of people dont know the song one mor chance from biggie smalls and ashanti "foolish". Alot of songs have went on to sample his and his family music but the de barges have been into drugs for years back in the 80's the family was arrested at a detroit airport for tryin to bring thru cocaine. One brotha died of a drug overdose and one died after numerous arrest for cocaine of HIV. Janet was married to James who suppose to still be on drugs after running thru the millions of dollars he got from Janet to keep his mouth shut about there marriage. So this family has been on drugs for yearsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss remember crack is wack...

25. Here are the facts: Bobby Debarge is the brother that died of AIDS and he also was rung up on drug conspiracy charges, as was his brother Chico. Bobby got 5 years and Chico got 6, which were very harsh charges and there is some evidence that both men were being made examples of.
EL has had drug issues for years and has a very long rap sheet. His daughter Adris is the personal assistant of Tracey Edmonds, Eddie Murphy and Babyface's ex wife. EL has 11 kids-he has his first kid when he was 15. The Debarge family was also sexually abused as children by their father.
In spite all of this, they are all exceptionally talented musicians and Debarge was THE premiere RnB family act of the 80s. Their music has been sampled by Ashanti, Tupac and Biggie, just to name a few.

28. Wow, I just saw him in concert two months ago. He actually looked good and the performance was great. So sad to read this. I hope he gets some help.

29. I'm old enough to remember when Debarge was at their best in the 80's. El Debarge was a gifted and talented young man who I always thought was kind of sexy. I had often wondered why he and his family disappeared from the music scene. It's a a shame to see him like this. It just goes to show you what drugs will do to you time and time again.
