Celebrity Justice
Britney Under Permanent Conservatorship

Lawyers in the Britney Spears conservatorship case have just asked the court commissioner to make her conservatorship permanent. And the judge said she would grant the request.

The conservatorship was scheduled to end on December 31.

Sources say one reason why Brit & Co. wanted to extend the conservatorship is that it makes it easier for her to regain custody of her kids -- the family law commissioner will feel more comfortable giving her added face time if there is a safety net.

The conservators will now also be responsible for handling her business affairs and career opportunities.

As for why they suddenly asked for a permanent conservatorship -- we're told the commish doesn't want to keep extending temporary power...that it makes more sense to make the conservatorship permanent and then just lift it when Brit is safe and sound.

Under the permanent conservatorship a medical team will oversee Britney's career to make sure what she does will not compromise her mental health.

The commish said, "The conservatorship is necessary and appropriate for the complexity of financial and business entities and her being susceptible to undue influence."

16. This should tell all the dumbass SLUTney fans that their girl is a PERMANENT mentally defective retard. She's supposedly an adult, yet she has to have someone wipe her ass for her. What a dumbass. AND, if she thinks that telling the world that she can't run her own life is a way to get her kids back, then she's totally delusional; her not being able to do anything for herself is like telling the world you're mentally defective & now want to own a gun.

SLUTney fans; time to dump this retard. She's a total loser, and has been ripping you off for years. She does NOT deserve your respect or adoration; she's a moron. She can't even balance her checkbook without allowing someone like douchebag sam lufti to tell her what to do. Time to move on to someone who can at least run their own life without court appointed guardians...

17. Thank you to Britney's dad id 1000% correct! If it wasn't for her father she'd either be dead now or in a mental institution. She's gotten really close. With this move she has a chance to eventually maintain the good habits she's developing.

18. 12. I am sure she is trying to do whatever it takes to get her kids back. She made some bad choices, but most of us have. Her father should never have done this to her in the first place. She will bounce back better than ever.

Laura, I don't know who's father you are talking about but Britney's father did not do this too her. He's the one that didn't want her in this music business in the first place, which is why they didn't get along well in the beginning. Don't blame her father, he stepped up, got bad people in her life away from her, and because of him, she's doing a heck of a lot better than 7 months ago.

19. The judge did the correct thing. Britney is mentally ill and needs a keeper. She will have have issues with her mental health.

21. #15, you're disgusting. Obviously you don't know anyone who struggles DAILY with bipolar.

22. You fools. That's GREAT NEWS! Look who didn't get this guidanse.......um, let's see: Elvis Presley (dead), Anna- Nikole Smith (also dead), Kurt Kobain, Marilyn Monroe, the list goes ON and ON. If they all had the same protektion, they might still be here today. Fame and fortune is too much pressure for some artists. It's not sad news. It's the law and mental health field finally taking some responsibility to protekt her and her family. I'm all for it, if it helps her stay sane.

23. Her dad has done really well getting her back on track and tossing all the hanger ons out the door.

24. In general, I would think this is a drastic step. That being said, she's clearly proven she can't handle being in control of her own life because of her mental issues. I agree with those who say that if she's allowed to go it alone, she'd be dead soon. It's the truth.

Her dad is doing a fabulous job (at least from what we can see) and I don't think anything should be changed.. at least for a couple years. If he pulls back his control, it should be slowly so that she isn't allowed to lose it again.

I wish her family the best. This can't be easy in the public eye.

25. # 21, you made an excellent point by reminding others of those who lost their lives to an out of control lifestyle. I wish only the best for Britney and her dad. Now, if only Mitch Winehouse would step up to the plate and take care of Amy.

26. By agreeing to a permanent convservatorship, any chance of Britney regaining custody of her children is zero. Look, I for one would have a major problem with not being able to make any kind of legal decisions on behalf of myself or my children but appears as if Britney is perfectly fine with someone else running her life. If I were her, I would be fighting tooth and nail to prove that I am competent adult who is fit to run my own affairs. As of right now, Britney sees her kids 3 days a week, two visits of which are overnight- atleast two people, Jamie Spears and another woman are always present during visits b/c no one trust Britney to be alone with her children and that is really sad. Kevin does not care about Britney regaining custody as long he continues to get 20k in child support. It is clear that Britney has major mental problems and until those problems are resolved she will never have unsupervised contact with her children.

Nope; I'm just not as stupid & airheaded as SLUTney fans obviously are. Comes a time when you have to re-evaluate what you're doing & make changes. SLUTney fans are totally sychophantic & delustional; this retard has been ripping them off for years, and they still hang on to the idea that she will be like she was when she was 17. She's 26(?) now, and can't walk & chew gum at the same time. Time to re-evaluate & move on to someone who has talent & properly functioning neurons...
