Celebrity Justice
El DeBarge Guilty -- Sent to El Big House

El DeBarge will spend the next two years feeling the rhythm of the night behind bars in connection with a recent drug bust in L.A.

The pop star was just sentenced to two years in state prison -- starting right this second. Authorities are currently taking him to California State Prison in Lancaster where he will immediately begin his sentence.

The judge decided his conduct during the drug bust earlier this month -- in which DeBarge was allegedly found with crack cocaine on his person -- was enough to violate the probation he was on from a drug case in 2007.

48. I was watching Unsung last night. It seems that the whole family had problems with drugs. It seem like El was going to rise above it but he too finally gave in to temptation. I dont think El need jail. I do think he needed celebrity rehab to help him take charge in fighting those demons.

49. Wow. I just finished watching a show called "Unsung." It is a show about singers and singing groups that should have made it, but for various reasons didn't. Tonight's featured group was "DeBarge." During the show I kept wondering why there wasn't more coverage of El. They showed is wife talking about him in the past tense, so as I was watching I thought maybe he had died. But since I hadn't heard anything in the news about this I began to figure that something else must be up. DeBarge was one of the hottest groups of the 80s, and then they just seemed to drop off the charts after El went solo. He had wonderful success as a solo artist. After sitting there watching their life story and how they grew up I am not surprised to find out that El is in jail. What ultimately caused the downfall of DeBarge as a group and it's various parts, i.e., El, Bobby, Chico, etc., is drugs. What a total waste of talent. This man followed his older brothers and sister right into the drug culture. If you want to know the truth about this group and El, check out TV-One's special on various musical artists called "Unsung." What a shame how drugs have completely destroyed the careers of such a talented group of people.

50. The Debarge Family has suffered a lot of tragedies in their lives. They are not perfect, they are human beings just like you and I. You all should not pass judgement on them. Half of you making idiotic comments don't know their story. You cannot walk a mile in any of their shoes! All you can do is reach out to them and give them words of encouragement. I am a switch and debarge fan myself and didn't know their past until i watched "unsung". Now i have a better understanding of their story. It is clear that they have demons that they have been battling for many years now. It is never too late to turn it around. My heart and prayers go out to the entire debarge family! Peace.

51. I just saw the TV1 special UNSUNG about the Debarge family and it was truly disturbing. I was sadden by what this beautifully talented family has gone through and is still doing through. It seems as though the whole family is fighting some demon inside and I don't wish this kind of suffering on anyone. The whole family has a story to tell. When Bunny gave specific accounts of what type of torture they were receiving I started crying. It is sad when people think that El deserves this. What has he done to you? Nothing. You don't even know this man. His demons are so deep, he is sick and only Jesus Christ can save him now. Someone previously blogged that this UNsung special was haunting and it was. You look at this family and see a deep vulneralbility to their psyche. I am praying for this family in hopes that all of them will be delivered from this evil and receive his word. Stay strong and you have people praying for you that you don't even know.

PEACE OUT

52. You would think after his brothers Bobby and Chico did 6 years for drug trafficking that he would be much smarter with the decisions he made.

53. El is an angel. Its sad that he is trapped in this dark room with demons. I humbly ask you guys to pray for him. He's my idle. Musically he has provided alot of medicine 4 my soul. He is not his mistakes. And you are not yours either, be loving yall and stop the negative remarks about him and his family. He cant help that he was born talented and therefore a target of satan.

55. the pressure is really on the youngest member of these groups! Michael Jackson, Foster Sylvers, El Debarge, and to an extent Donny Osmond (although he's the most successful these days)!
