The Rich Life!
Howard's New Home -- Far from a HoJo

No, that's not the living room inside the Taj Mahal -- it's the new Florida palace of Orlando Magic star, Dwight Howard.

The 22-year-old baller just bought this nearly $8 million mansion, which has five bedrooms, five baths, billiard room, walk-thru butler's pantry, Italian marble floors and "30' gold travertine arches at courtyard." And get this -- the pool has its own "lazy river."

The house sits on a the so-called "Street of Dreams" in Longwood, Fla. -- and if you have a couple extra mil laying around, the ridiculous house next door is for sale.

32. SMH @ all the negative comments. He's living large cause he got the money. All you guys wish you could live like that instead you complain and sound like a bunch of jealous losers. Jealousy is not a good look. If I had the money I'd to the same thing. He's young talneted and rich as hell...so let him enjoy his life

33. Please go check his annual income (current + endorsements) before giving unsollicited advices. This investment is huge sure, but it's not that big of a deal for him, because if he continues playing as wel as he plays now, he'll be worth 5 times more

34. This house is awesome. My dad built this house and no it is not on the market. Check your facts before you write something like that. And I doubt Dwight is going to have to file for bankrupcy.

35. I went to the Street of Dreams where there where 3 elaborate homes. This house was amazing. Everyone was in awe of the details and quality. Obviously no one here who posted such negative comments toured the house. Over 30,000 people went through it and it was those people who voted for best architecture, best interior design, best landscaping and best house in the show. Good Job to those who created that masterpiece, and congratulations Dwight for buying it.

36. The comments about this house are ridiculous. 30,000 people from across the nation and world flocked to the Street of Dreams last year, including myself, and stood mystified at the brilliance and beauty of this house. It won almost every award it was up for, the awards, of the three homes, were judged by the public at the end of their tour, if there were any questions. The picture above shows nothing of the brilliance and detail at every turn, every corner, for a majority of the people who walked through this house, quite a few adjectives were spoken, none of which I heard included tacky, gawdy, or pathetic; words like: amazing, immaculate, unbelievable. The workers of this house put more care into 1sq/ft than any of those $3m homes talked about above, I'm sure. Dwight Howard is successful enough to not only live in luxury in a beautiful house, but to also donate to any charity he pleases. No one should be critisizing anything they haven't seen with their own eyes. I stood inside this house, wide-eyed and jaw dropped to the floor in a trance caused by its beauty and majesty. Chatuea De Usse is a standing work of art, from outside to in, it may be big, it may be luxurious, it may have a lot of rooms, and luxuries most of us can't even fathom, but that is the point of the Street of Dreams; to show the public the house of our dreams. Dwight Howard is very fortunate to call this dream house his home.

37. For starters, what would your response be if I told you that a person erning $100,000 per year purchased a $25,000 home? Would you call him wasteful? Would you all still rant about how he overindulges in himself? Would you call him stupid, and question the intelligence of his accounts and financial advisors? Let me guess, you same people who are thrasing Dwight on this site, also voted for John McCain, right?

"Winslow," you say..."How could you possibly compare Dwight purchasing this ridiculous home to a no-name regular "John Doe" earning $100,000 per year, purchasing a home for $25,000? Dwight just signed a new contract that pays him $17 million annually from basketball alone. He earns another $5 million per year in endorsements. Total annual income...drumroll......$22 million plus. So in essence, this home cost him $25% of one year's salary.

You people go wrong in your thinking when you try to apply regular financial principles to individuals that do not earn regular paychecks. If it makes you feel any better, there are players in the NBA that own far more lavish homes. Did ya know that Lebron is currently in the process of building a $15-20 million dollar home? Well, before you respond to that, you should understand that Lebron earns more than $35 million per year.

Can your envious minds even process this type of fortune? Probably not, and so this is the very reason that you sit on your stool of "do nothing," hating on individuals that had the testicular fortitude to embark upon goals that your oppressed minds fail to even comprehend.

38. Obviously those who commented negatively about Dwight's house have never been in it. And those who commented negatively about Dwight do not know him personally either. The house is the winner of Street of Dreams for a reason, and I was there for the building of it from first to last. The time and thought, workmanship and design, that went into that house was incredible. It is truly one-of-a-kind, and for Dwight, will be a good investment. If you have the money, why is it some people think you are wrong to buy something like this?? Dwight has always been a very pleasant person, extremely polite and quiet. I am so happy he ended up with the house, and I am very proud that I had something to do with building it! Tacky is making comments about someone or something when you have no idea what you are talking about.

39. I live about a mile from his house. I just have to say I just saw him in my gas station, and this guy has done so much for our community. He is an idol here, he helps and contributes with everyone here. I think everyone here, should understand that houses around where we live are very expensive houses. These houses on Markham Woods, Heathrow, and Alaqua, are about 2-10 million dollars houses. He did good, he got what he wanted, and deserves it. I think he is a great role model and the way he is going, he will be a great person and athlete (not that he isn't already) but that is the next big NBA star. I have met, Shaq, Penny, Shaq's family here in this area, as a matter a fact, shaq's step dad and mother still live around here. They are great people. We even have baseball player from the Yankees living here. Congrats man. Keep being the person you are Howard.
