William Balfour -- the "person of interest" in the murders of Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and nephew -- isn't the first Balfour to run afoul of the law.

Balfour's father is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for murder. His brother served time for drug dealing.

Balfour himself has served time for attempted murder and carjacking.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Balfour was a member of the Gangster Disciple Street Gang.

Also according to court docs, Balfour told the judge back in 1999 he had a good relationship with his mother until "she gets an attitude."

Since you Myspace everyday since this tragedy, undoubtedly you come here to read about yourself. From what I gather on your Myspace (both you and your murdering husband both say you are related to Jennifer Hudson) you are jealous of your sisters fame. Yesterday you had everyone's sympathy, but as more and more details come out, people are turning against you for your really bad and selfish decisions. You are a revolting person. No one even believes you loved that kid at this point. I hope you somehow gain a conscience and are racked with guilt the rest of your days. Your family is gone because of you. their blood is on your hands!

48. For the record, Jennifer Hudson's mom did NOT want to move out of her family home. One of the first things Jennifer wanted to do was move her family out of the southside of Chicago.

For all you dumbasses who are blaming schools and teachers did you ever stop to think that the reason why this ass turned out this way is because his parents didn't give a crap and MAKE HIM GO TO SCHOOL. When mommy and daddy are more concerned with the pipe than whether or not the stupid POS is in school, this is what happens. 52. I believe in letting the judicial system work. However, in some cases where the nature of the crime is beyond comprehension like this one; If he is indeed found guilty he needs to be put to death immediately! There is no excuse for this type of behavior. Ladies be more selective in whom you let into your life. A lot of these men don't try to change because they know that society will make excuses for them. Lastly, parents if your child gets into trouble please try to refrain from publicly defending them until you know all the facts. Especially when you know that your child has a criminal past.

Ok people listen up..#1 Julia was separated from this guy..So yes he did have a girlfriend..but men that claim to be happily married sometimes have girlfriends..So I'm sure being faithful and morals were not at the top of his list..#2 It has been reported that Jennifer did want to move her mother out of that neighborhood, but she refused to leave..Stating that "she had been there all her life, and wasn't going anywhere." I know people today that have never left out of South Central Los Angeles, even though they could move to bettter areas with a better school system for their children. Having money is one thing. Wanting something better out of life is another. So stop blaming Jennifer for not "moving" her family out of the hood. She didn't want to go.#3 I have a 6 year old son, and I'll be damned if I bring a "good for nothing" into his life, just for the sake of having a "man" in the house..Yes, this is her fought..It has been reported once again that William has known this family since they were all kids, so I'm sure she new his history and his family's history..but instead of calling "Jenni" (that's Jenni Craig) she decided to keep eating and just go with the first thing that showed her some attention..I'm sure in exchange for sex, she provided him with a place to lay his head, food to eat (of course) and money to spend..One day ladies we will learn that sometimes it's better just to be "alone"..especially when there are children involved..I'm disgusted..

Obviously, you don't know all of the facts. Jennifer shared with her family and offered them housing options according to the press. However, her family wanted to remain rooted where they were. Due to the nature of this crime not being random it would not have mattered if this nutcase were still involved with the sister. Jennifer is a victim here she is not responsible for the actions of some sick bastard!

60. And knowing his family history, the sister STILLED married him. She's was as stupid as he is. And stop blaming everyone but the parents. It's a parent's responsibility to raise their children, no one else's. Yet people, especially the Black community, are always first to point fingers at someone else; to lay blame with someone else. No one deserves what the sister, brother, and nephew got but it's not Jennifer's fault for not taking care of her family. The mother wanted to live where she did.
