Hangin' Palin Off the Hook, Flamin' John Stays

Effigy-gate is dead, just a day after it began.

The couple who hung up a Sarah Palin mannequin off the side of their West Hollywood house have taken the pseudo-Sarah down, after city officials put heat on them. They'd gotten an incredible amount of attention -- and anger -- from around the world for the Halloween-themed display.

Chad Michael Morrisette tells the LA Times he decided to take down the hanging Sarah after meeting with WeHo mayor Jeffrey Prang. He's leaving up the flaming John McCain, however.

31. 22. Look at the pot calling the kettle black!
What would have happended to the person that hung Obama outside their house. They would have been called racist. Some democrates are so dumb. Sad Sad.

NObama!!

32. If this was a mannequin of Obama this would be considered a racist action. But it's of Sarah Palin and one of John McCain so it's ok. You know at the beginning of this election I was all for Obama now there is no way in hell I'd ever support for him. This election has all been about character assasination. This is just the latest example of the rabid dog mentality of Obama supporters.

33. This is a hate crime and this guy needs to be prosecuted. Hate crime is when you're threatening someone else just because they're different. This is a perfect case. The homeowner is threatening her because she's a conservative...probably because she's Christian.

34. That CAN'T be McCain. He can't raise his arms above his head.

35. I agree with #29.... The race card is getting old.... and if this were Obama hanging it would be considered a racist hate crime. But because it is a white person hanging its acceptable... there are such double standards in this country.

36. Wake up people, if it were Obama, the liberals would be yelling hate crime, it is not a hate crime when
the whites are involved, only can be hate if it is insulting to blacks.............................they are soooooooooooooooooooo
sensitive, get over yourselves, slavery ended long ago.....give it a rest and grow some thick skin would you brothers and sisters

37. To be fair people, the two Obama hangings happened on college campuses. Not for nothing, but at most college campuses this is performance art and done by both sides of the political spectrum to incite and to bring the news cameras. In addition, the cowards who did this at the campuses didn't stand by their artwork. They did it in the middle of the night. This guy does it to home. It's like saying hey world I'm hate-mongering A-hole. I hope someone rips him a new one :)

38. What is really sad...is that either way, the racists zealots come out. It was WRONG to hang a doll os Palin and it was WRONG to hang dolls of Obama. It is even MORE wrong to insinuate that the"blacks" (my interpretation was that it was said derrogatively) would riot. any form of hate, no matter who it is against is wrong and mean spirited. Until this country can learn to see a person, we will continue to go in this lame, un-necessary cycle of generalizations of any group.

39. What a sad, sad state of affairs this has come to. I hope that old saying of "time heals all wounds" is true because it will take an awful lot of time and forgiveness to overcome the damage this election has caused. What is the world coming to?

40. Hey Delaware16. I'm near Ardencroft. Have you seen the lone McCain lawn sign in the most liberal of all neighborhoods Ardencroft? I pass it everyday and it is still there. I figure if that family can post that sign in that fully Democratic neighborhood and not have it torn down or vandalized then maybe there is hope for us all.

41. They should send the mannequin to Tina Fey so she can hang it in her house! Tina's behavior on the Today Show this morning was outrageous. If she doesn't want to do the impression of Sarah, DON'T DO US ANY FAVORS!! She also looked disgusted when she said that Sarah asked if she wanted Bristol to babysit her daughter during the show. You'd think that Sarah was volunteering Charles Manson. I used to like Tina but not any more.

42. Ok...I agree that hanging a effigy of Sarah P. is totally wrong and distasteful!

BUT....all the hating on Calif. is not right. ALL of CA is not like this. The comments from other posters: "the land of fruits and nuts..." and "What do you expect from CA nothing but quacks n' queers." WT?!?!?! I've lived here all my life and LOVE CA. I am a normal everyday person (married w/ kids)....I don't live anywhere near Hollywood. Ya, u see weirdos here n there...but every state has it's share of weirdos. So to stereotype CA as if to say we're all fruits, etc. is WRONG!

45. I looked up his picture. What a weasely looking dude. He is definitely a catcher. Nothing but a small man doing small things to get attention.
