152. I think it was a very ignorant comment and an apology should be demanded. What’s even more horrifying are some of the comments that clearly indicate the racism against the Latino population' such as: "DUMB ASS DOMINICANS" and Do Dominicans work? Yes WHITE TRASH JERKS, Dominicans do work and harder then most white Americans who've had it made ever since they were born…. This land belongs to white people???? This was taken by white people. How about you start educating yourself before you post such a comment???

153. I cant believe the comments to this post. This is a big deal. You all are some serious racists if you think it wasnt intentional the comparison being made. Kelly Ripa should be ashamed of herself because after all her children are half hispanic and lo and behold their mommy is a closet racist. And Regis just should have known better. I'm glad the group is protesting it was an idiotic comment and they should apologize. And no most Dominicans arent democrats we're too busy with our own political parties at home. 154. I am a 33 yr old woman born in the Dominican Republic and raised in NYC since the age of 3. I actually Tivo the Regis & Kelly show every day and watch in the evenings after I get home from work as an EXECUTIVE. I've never cleaned ANYONE's house but my own and I actually went to a IVY league university and I AM a US citizen. It's TOO bad that some people that commented on here are SO IGNORANT.
I believe Regis' comment has been blown out of portion.

It is sooo disrespectful.....i used to work at ABC and used to see regis and kelly everyday in the elevator..Now i'm soo disappointed..Fine for most of you its not abig deal..But imagine if they would hae compared black people to Monkeys Al sharpton would have been all over that..Or how about if they would have compared whites to trailor trash...hundreds of folks would have been picketing..so why is it not a big deal what they said.. its disrpectful and even if they didn mean it that way ...they should still apologize especially because alot of dominicans work with them as producers at the show,, And hundreds of thousands of Dominicans are their loyal fans watching that dumb ass show,

156. It is offensive to Dominicans, its funny you make one joke about black ppl and the world needs to stop and apologize to the black society. You make one joke about black ppl and the entire story about slavery needs to be told for pity on them. 157. I'd like to say that I'm sorry for those who were offended by the comment made. However, I truly believe that Regis was comparing the fact that democrate and Dominican are close in sound. It is not of typical Regis behavior to have ment or even insinuated that Dominicans are all asses or even democrates. It is missunderstandings like this that can cause hurt feelings. But, each person is entitled to their own opinions. I hope that now that an apology has been made, those who were offended will consider the possiblity that the whole situation was a misunderstanding and not an intentional insult.

158. This whole thing is mind boggling! Anyone who is offended by what transpired on the show HAS TOTALLY MISUNDERSTOOD. Let me explain it for you all, really sloooowly:

All Kelly did was quote a remark by her young child, where the child accidentally misused the word "Dominican" instead of "Democrat". This was a child's mistake, not Kelly's. Both Kelly's daughter and Kelly were talking about Democrats, not Dominicans.

Then, Regis said that the child was "close", meaning that the words "Dominican" and "Democrat" are close to a child's ears.

NOBODY MEANT TO COMPARE DOMINICANS WITH DONKEYS! Get that? NOBODY! Not even the child. It was an amusing anecdote about a kid's mistake. That's it! Get it yet?

(BTW, TMZ, Kelly Ripa does not have 37 children. She has 3. Geez!)

To address what "I organize clam bakes" said, whether or not you agree with what this particular group thinks, at least they are defending what they believe to be their nationality's honor within this country. Why should you assume that they are any less busy than you, who have time to read blogs on the internet, presumably watch the clip, and then write in to tear an entire group of people in our society (who are obviously not ALL involved in the protest) down? Maybe you should look at your own job and ask yourself if you are using your free time in the most productive way you could? (The name you use on the blog indicates that you also may have a lot of time on your hands...) Also, let me just point out the obvious: jobs come in different forms and have different schedules. You have no reason to believe that these people saw the actual show versus seeing it on the Internet or on some clip show. Some people's jobs involve being active in their communty's image in the media, some people are home with children (still a JOB), and some people just work the night shift and volunteer their time to protest. You may not agree, but why insult them just because they are standing up for a belief that doesn't seem to affect you personally? (I work very hard, and I found time to write THIS...)
