62. It's obvious to AMERICANS what Regis meant because we have grown up seeing these images all of our lives. The people who were offended are Dominican and I don't think it is too much to ask for a statement from Regis clarifing what he really meant.

73. All I can say is that I am immensely surprised. Perhaps the pun was not meant to be offensive. However, it came out the wrong way. They (the TV-show hosts) should lean towards the safe-politically-correct side, and apologize for any misunderstanding their misplaced and tacky joke could have caused.

After all, I was under the impression, that being politically correct was one of the dominant aspects of the American culture. A really good example is how Americans erased "In God We Trust" from the new dollar coins, just because not everybody has religious beliefs. Honestly, in a country where one of their most significant symbols is changed for "political correctness" it should be no problem at all to express an apology for this possibly very grave offense against a very hard-working community.

Then again, everybody knows, that all over Europe (especially in Great Britain) the American culture is utmost ridiculed because for many things. Like their eating habits and their lack of world-culture (example: Miss South Carolina - Miss Teen USA 2007). Therefore, let us cut them some slack.

I am Dominican and I believe those "so called" dominican politicians should start focusing on issues that are affecting the hispaniccommunity on the upper westside.
