Celebrity Justice
Mackenzie Phillips - Diverted

An L.A. judge has just made Mackenzie Phillips' day.

Mackenzie was ordered into a drug diversion program after pleading guilty to a felony drug charge, specifically cocaine. You'll recall Phillips was busted at LAX last August after baggies and balloons of coke and heroin fell down her pant leg at security.

Phillips was in court with her miracle lawyer, Blair Berk. The guilty plea will be dismissed when Mackenzie completes the diversion program. Once that happens the whole incident will be wiped from her record. Phillips addressed the court, saying, "I want to thank the Los Angeles Police Department and the Airport Police for stopping me -- they saved my life."

At one point during the proceedings, the D.A. turned to Mackenzie and asked her if she had appeared on "Diff'rent Strokes," she humbly told him it was actually "One Day at a Time."

The other charges against Phillips were dismissed.

After the bust, Phillips checked herself into rehab -- her 10th stint. This time there's a lot of hope. She looked great today in court. Here's wishin' ...

31. 10. It amazes me everytime a Hollywood star or athlete or rich gets busted they can do rehab and get the charges to 'disappear' this does not happen with average Joe or anyone for that matter who does not have money. Money sure changes the rules in our justice system. The whole criminal justice system needs to treat EVERYONE the same for the same crimes.

WRONG. Pardon me for raising my voice. This is a deal that many people get, regardless of income. As I have said, this deal is made many times a day in communities all over the country. It is as common as the people who get it. If your point is that the criminal justice system does not treat everyone the same, then you should make that point without using this as your evidence, because this doesn't hold water.

However, if your point is, in fact, that the criminal justice system does not treat everyone the same, I would be inclined to agree with you. I think it is observant of color and class, but that is just my opinion.

32. She should go to jail for 34 years and remember how nice her life was.

33. on a&e or w/e channel that has that biography show, they did one on her. she basically said something to the point that the one way she would fool people by thinking she was sober was to go and get herself polished. hair, make up, nails, new clothes, the works.

so with that being said, she could just be fooling the judge and everybody else.

35. This not only happens to stars it happens to a lot of everyday people. I know that for a fact. They do rehab and after you show proof you completed it, it is erased off your record. But some people aren't as lucky and they do go to prison for the same crime.

36. She has not been arrested 10 times, she has been to rehab 10 times. Big difference.

37. What actually happens in rehab? Do they give them drugs to get them off drugs, or does the staff just say NO, NO, NO to the celebrity?

38. I think the DA asked if she was on Diff'rent Strokes to be ironic, since she needs to start living clean "One Day at a Time." I don't think it was a mistake. I hope she succeeds this time. You never know which one will take.

39. What a hypocrite! This woman has given many interviews touting her "clean and sober" lifestyle. I went to a court ordered rehab after a DUI, and it was a joke. People were actually using heroin and coke in rehab and hiding their stash in the ceiling tiles. I could have easily had someone bring in alcohol (or walked to the corner store and purchase it) if I had so chosen. I chose to work the program instead. It was my first and hopefully my last time. When someone has gone through 10 rehabs, it seems to indicate that they are not finding the help they need, or don't want help at all.

That said, I do hope that #11 is the charm for her.

40. BabyMomma....you are the dumb one that you don't know how long ago this gal was, keyword WAS, on a tv program. She is a has been, has not done anything in the business of worth since then and even during the series run she had drug problems. Then again, she is a child of the momma's and the papa's.

41. I hope Rehab works this time. It didn't the last Nine. But I think if she was not "Mackenzie Phillips" she would have been locked up. Double standard for Hollywood peeps?

42. I really hope Mackenzie gets her life on track. If you know anything of her history, her parental influence was lacking.. John Phillips used to get high with her.. what chance did she have? I pray that this is the one wake up call for her.. I really like her and she is extremely talented.. Mack... I pray you get the break and strength you need in your RECOVERY!!!!!!

45. This is a bunch of crap. Addicts deceive and play people on a routine basis. They lie, cheat and will do anything to feed their habit. She can thank the PD, the Judge and the universe "after" she's clean. Anything that is said now is suspect. 90% of the people that enter rehab, re-enter, re-enter, re-enter, etc. will die of complications related to the reason they are there in the first place. I won't believe a word she says until she has clean time behind her. Everything, at this point, is just words, no actions!!
