Celebrity Justice
Mackenzie Phillips - Diverted

An L.A. judge has just made Mackenzie Phillips' day.

Mackenzie was ordered into a drug diversion program after pleading guilty to a felony drug charge, specifically cocaine. You'll recall Phillips was busted at LAX last August after baggies and balloons of coke and heroin fell down her pant leg at security.

Phillips was in court with her miracle lawyer, Blair Berk. The guilty plea will be dismissed when Mackenzie completes the diversion program. Once that happens the whole incident will be wiped from her record. Phillips addressed the court, saying, "I want to thank the Los Angeles Police Department and the Airport Police for stopping me -- they saved my life."

At one point during the proceedings, the D.A. turned to Mackenzie and asked her if she had appeared on "Diff'rent Strokes," she humbly told him it was actually "One Day at a Time."

The other charges against Phillips were dismissed.

After the bust, Phillips checked herself into rehab -- her 10th stint. This time there's a lot of hope. She looked great today in court. Here's wishin' ...

61. 10th time? You gotta be s***in' me? If it was a Joe/Jane off the street they'd be put UNDER the prison! Celebrity justice. This country is green alright. Money green.......
I really used to think she was doing her best to right her ship. I admired and respected her efforts. B***s**t!

62. Who cares? Quite frankly, she is another Hollywood personality who has been given many chances and many opportunities and who has squandered them all. She should move aside and disappear, and let's cheer on the celeb's who find it more rewarding to do the right thing.

63. She doesn't have a drug problem; she has emotional issues that she tries to stifle by being high. Wake up, America! People don't use drugs because they are demons; they use drugs to try to feel good. Wrong or right, they are not bad people.

66. I hate to say it, but because Ms. Phillips has been in rehab 9 times previously, it probably won't work. The judge probably should have sentenced her to a year in jail just to wake her up. Jail is harsh, but some people need a taste of it to see that they can do better and to quit repeating self destructive behavior. That being said, I wish her the best. I've never used drugs, but I've come into contact with many over my lifetime who have allowed drugs to completely control their lives.
It makes me wonder how anyone who can read about these celebrities who hit rock bottom from using this stuff would ever consider doing it themselves. WAKE UP, NO UPSIDE TO ADDICTION!

67. TRUE FACT: Only 4% of heroin addicts recover to never use again. I think that Ms. Phillips is in the 86% who will continue to relapse. Add cocaine to the mix and I'll bet the recovery and abstinance percentage drops even lower. That judge should be ashamed of himself!! After 10 stints in rehab, she obviously isn't going to stay straight. The normal everyday citizen would NEVER, EVER get this break. In addition, the normal everyday citizen would NEVER, EVER have this wiped off their records after multiple arrests. Just another case of those with money getting whatever they want. My two sons were heroin addicts and it was a tough road, but with tough love, and I do mean real tough, on my part & my husband's part, they are have both recovered and been clean for 3 years. I believe they have learned the hard way, something Ms. Phillips hasn't done. After all the breaks she's had, she needs to do some hard time.

69. GREG #61...You are right...most addicts are not bad people. They are good people who have made bad choices. However, she has been getting a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card for DECADES. Enough is enough. I've been in the trenches with my 2 sons who were addicted. This judge has done her no favors. I will say it now...."I told you so"...because she will not stay clean.

70. This is her 10th stint in rehab. 10, not 3rd or 4th, 10th. . She doesn't want to stop. And as old as she is! This should stay on her record just like any other common addict that gets busted for trafficking. It's wrong to expunge this off her record and any judge that agrees with this is a joke. Don't do tthe crime if you can't do the time!

73. LIBERAL CALIFONIA SOUNDS LIKE the half-aunt from Kenya, Zeituni Onyango, who is living in a Boston public housing complex? YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!! If a judge denied her asylum request and ordered her to leave the country four years ago how the heck did she get approved for housing? WILL THE STOLEN MONEY BE PAID BACK?

74. Plain and simple: she can afford to keep using. She's rich. If she was put in the gutter by her own actions, she might hit bottom and the rehab would "take".
