Murder Weapon in Hudson Murder ID'd

Chicago cops have confirmed -- the gun found last Wednesday is the same one used to murder three members of Jenifer Hudson's family.

Police found a .45 caliber Sig-Sauer semiautomatic pistol a block from where a vehicle was part containing the body of Jenifer's 7-year-old nephew Julian King. Cops knew almost immediately the gun was a match because of unfired bullets synced up with the casings found at the murder scene.

Police also are investigating whether the weapon may have once belonged to Jason Hudson.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives determined the weapon was originally owned by someone in Michigan who had reported it stolen. Investigators now need to follow the path of the gun that takes them to Chicago.

61. Before I go, I want to make another observation.

Many people want to make a big deal over the fact that Julia allegedly came home, saw the nightmarish scene, backed out, and departed -- all without determining whether her son was there.

1. The news reports have stated that Julia discovered the scene, and others have stated that a cousin discovered the scene. Therefore, not enough information has been released to tie down this conflicting reporting and, therefore, one cannot jump to any proper conclusion about Julia at this point.

2. Even if it was Julia who arrived first, she called out to her son, and not hearing a response, she backed out, terrified, scared, petrified, shocked, numb, and probably scared for her own life beyond belief. As the funeral looms closer, only now does she realize that it was indeed not a dream.

3. Only she knows what words she said to Balfour about the garnished check over the phone, and she wants to believe that her words did not cause all this. "No, no, " she tells herself, "This could not be that."

4. Jealous? Probably yes. At least somewhat so, but not enough to all of a sudden become a stone-cold murderer of THREE people, especially the three closest to her. Certainly she depended upon them to provide a bit of support for her well-being. Her jealously was not that deep, and it does not make logical sense to believe otherwise...

5. If Julia has anything to hide, it is her words to Balfour on that telephone call. Those words haunt her now, and shall haunt her forevermore...

62. OldwiseOne. You'd make an excellent publisst for Julia. Or her biographer. Very cool head. I like that.

You speak in a ways of that of a physic (sp?) with your use of quotes at what they "said". Very believable. Kinda too believeable. Pull back a little. Use words like "probably said", "probably thought".

Other than that, I like the way you think.

Much respect.

65. It's the worse game of Clue I've ever seen.

I think Julia is at the bottom of the list of suspects. Although a ghetto gal who was immature and had an attitude the 3 people killed were the 3 clsest to her. I beleieve she loved her mother, brother and son and would not harm them herself unless forced to. And I still think she would have sat on anyone who forced her to.

Not that any of her choices in life, her behavior or lifestyle didn't lead to their murders.

I think at the top of the ;list is Flex because of domestic issues. Not only with Julia getting in the way of his other girlfriends plus her having an attitude about him selling the car and rightfully so.
He might have had help frm his brother, a female friend or another thug associate.

We also have other gang members or drug dealers that the brother Jason may have crossed.
After all he was previously shot in the leg to the point of having to use a cane and never got medical attention for it. Obviously was never reported it to police.

We can also toss in Jennifer's ex-bf who she dumped after 8 yrs and having made it in Hollywood.
Wonder if he was questioned at all about this and if he has a alibi.??

So it could be Domestic issues.....or Gang related.... or Drug Related......or Jealously.... or Revenge or a combination.
We should cross out Random Crime. and stick with one or combination of the others.

Julia may not have been a great mother. She even admitted Julian was like a Brother to her.
That's because her mother enabled that. Her mother took on most of the burden of caring for and raising Julian.
But she still loved him dearly.

66. From the New York Daily News, on Sunday, November 2nd:

Chicago buried in murders

For a few days last week, the weed-choked South Side block where Jennifer Hudson's family was killed became an oasis of safety in the nation's deadliest big city.

"If she wasn't famous, all of the media wouldn't be here," said Michelle Strickland, 23, standing near the hundreds of teddy bears piled in tribute. "The crime rate is really, really high here."

Cops parked in front of the white clapboard house, detectives worked the streets nearby and TV trucks shone spotlights into the dark - while the drug dealers, gang members and random gunmen who terrorize the Englewood neighborhood moved elsewhere.

"Before this happened, you could just stand out here at night and hear the gunshots all around," said one neighbor, who heard one shot the morning of the murders and thought nothing of it. "You just drive around and you see bears and bottles of liquor. Every time you see that, you know someone got killed there."

More people have been murdered in Chicago this year than in New York - even though New York's population is three times greater. When Hudson's mother, brother and nephew were killed last month, they pushed the city's homicide total for the year to 436 and counting. New York has had 430 homicides.

"We're not proud of it," Mayor Richard Daley said last week, as the killings put new scrutiny on Chicago's out-of-control crime as the city bids for the 2016 Olympics. "We'll get it down next year. We'll get it down. We'll do things differently."

Cops and criminologists say Chicago's stubborn murder rate is a product of larger forces that are tough to control - entrenched street gangs, a heavy drug trade and a culture of gunplay.

"Everyone has a gun," said Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond, who said a recent gun buyback program netted 7,000 weapons in three hours. "We've got 75,000 gang members - that's almost six gang members to one police officer."

The NYPD was able to make remarkable strides against seemingly intractable crime in the 1990s - tracking statistics to isolate hot spots, then flooding violent blocks with cops.

Chicago has tried similar strategies, creating a platoon of cops to saturate bloody neighborhoods.

Academics who study crime, though, say Chicago cops' history of brutal misconduct hurts their ability to curb violence - whether because residents don't trust police or because officers have recently been forced to abandon aggressive tactics.

Chicago also must deal with decades of gang warfare that divides the city, a factor that makes it harder to drive down crime with New York-style tactics.

"It's intergenerational," said Loyola University Chicago criminologist Arthur Lurigio. "If you ask gang members today, 'Why are you shooting and killing each other?' they can't really explain."

Chicago's new police superintendent, former FBI agent Jody Weis, is under pressure for results, especially if hometown hero Sen. Barack Obama is elected President from the country's big-city murder capital. Weis plans to launch a mobile strike force of officers to saturate violent areas, search for gang members and arrest offenders who have open warrants. But the city council has for decades resisted plans to redraw the police patrol map, permanently shifting cops from low-crime to high-crime areas.

Meanwhile, the economy is getting worse - which means cops, experts and average Englewood residents are bracing for more abandoned buildings, more desperation, more crime and more violence.

"There's no block safe right now because of the economic situation," said Gary Chapple, 41, who moved from Englewood to the far South Side to escape the violence - and hopes a President Obama can help bring change to his hometown.

"His message is about change, but he can't do it by himself," Chapple said. "It's going to focus attention. Everybody's going to wait to see what's going to happen. I pray that something strong happens."

67. shocked, that sounds more like a southpark episode.

I still don't think Julia was involved and now I'm having some second thoughts about William.

They wouldn't wait until after the funerals to charge him. I understand they have the luxury of extra time because of the parole violation. He's not going anywhere. But there is no real advantage to waiting if they have the evidence.
