"A memorial service was held today to pay tribute to Jennifer Hudson's late mother, brother and nephew.

Friends and family gathered at Pleasant Gift Memorial Baptist Church in Chicago's South Side to listen to spiritual songs and reminisce about Hudson's relatives, The Associated Press reports.

Family members took turns telling stories about the three victims. Jennifer and her sister, Julia, did not attend the memorial service.

A private funeral service is to be held tomorrow for Hudson's mother, brother and nephew who were shot to death late last month. "

63. Julia is not innocent in this by all means. She knows what's up. Her story doesn't hold up very well. An honest, innocent person wouldnt have such a weak story. What are you hiding Julia??

64. I have read a lot of posts around the internet by people asking why the CPD haven't moved faster on charging someone. My thoughts are: They have mentioned they have several "people of interest" in their sights (although no names have been given other than Balfour's) - and I figure perhaps they are watching certain individuals for their reactions during the memorial/funeral. Those moments are often quite telling to people trained to know what to look for. ;)

There is always so much the public doesn't know (even though we are all curious and want answers), and I suppose this is to keep the general public as unbiased as possible for when the trial eventually happens. Not to mention - the CPD is in the spotlight big time with this case and they want to make sure they do everything as by-the-book as possible.

It's going to be interesting to see how things unfold over the next few weeks.

How long can they hold Balfour on his infraction? If they had the evidence to charge him - would they not have done so already? Or are they just waiting for the funerals to be over?

Jennifer and Julia never planned on attending this service. A private service will be held for the family.

I agree, there are reason's we don't know all the facts. It's unfortunate people are so determined to cast judgment based on what has been reported thus far.....and that's even been twisted.
We need to let CPD do their job, they will release facts on a need-to-know-basis!!

73. Hayley:

Balfour is being held on a parole violation so they can keep him until that hearing, which is still over a week away I think. Once you're arrested, they only have a couple of days to charge you. So this works in the cops' favor. He gets a lawyer for his parole hearing, but if it's a public defender, they'll spend about 30 minutes on that. He's stopped cooperating, so as long as they stop questioning him, he doesn't necessarily get council.

It could be they are waiting for the funeral. They could also just be waiting for someone to slip up and talk to someone etc.... I think it's a good strategy, as most criminals aren't that bright.

I have a suspicion that plenty of people are talking and the CPD just isn't releasing any of it.

There is huge public interest, so I think it was very nice of them to schedule something public.

75. Hopefully the pot of beans will spill eventually. I would be surprised if Julia is not involved in this somehow but time will tell (other than guilt by association).

A lot of people (including myself) are the same saying that Howard K. Sterns was somehow involved in the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son and looked what happened there, nothing!
