Obama's Grandmother Passes Away

Madelyn Dunham, Barack Obama's grandmother, has passed away after a bout with cancer.

Obama suspended his campaign on October 23 to fly to Honolulu, Hawaii and visit her. Madelyn was 86.

Barack Obama and his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, issued the following statement ...

"It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer. She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring. Our debt to her is beyond measure.

Our family wants to thank all of those who sent flowers, cards, well-wishes, and prayers during this difficult time. It brought our grandmother and us great comfort. Our grandmother was a private woman, and we will respect her wish for a small private ceremony to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to any worthy organization in search of a cure for cancer."

32. To the first poster, killa....bro, your question was, "Who cares?" (Proper grammar, punctuation and sentence structure provided by me.)

Allow me to answer that question. I care. I don't know for whom I am going to vote. It may or may not be Obama. But, for the record - and since you asked - I care that his grandmother died, and I am glad that TMZ reported it.

Does that answer your question?

34. Reguardless of who you support have some dignity and show some respect. How would you feel if someone said these horrible things during your time of grief? I feel sorry for anyone who has such such evil in them. Senator Obama you and your family are in my prayers and I am sure that she will be watching over you tomorrow on the day history is made!

36. Leave his grandmother alone for God's sake. And I hope the hate-mongering Rush Limbaugh is feeling bad for saying that she wasn't really sick, that Obama only went to Hawaii to seal his birth records. Of course that would require him to have a conscience and rgenuine human compassion, which he is incompable of.

38. To any of you who are disgusting enough to make a nasty comment at a time like this, I have one word for you....karma. You are inhuman and sick. Pitiful excuses for human beings. How can you see a picture of such a loving woman and say such horrible things? Do you have Grandparents? How would you feel if someone made such comments about them. May God forgive you for your cold hearts.

To the family and loved ones of Mrs. Dunham, my sympathies.

40. Hey, number 49 - get YOUR f-ing facts straight. It's more than possible for a person with dementia to fall and break a hip, and more than possible for a cancer patient to develop pneumonia. You are a sick, sick person, and you WILL get yours someday. Disgusting.

41. On the eve of the elections, the global left is ecstatic that they just may get the US President that helps put an end to Capitalism.
The great Milton Friedman stated that beyond a doubt Capitalism and Freedom go hand in hand. The real question for Obama is “Do you believe in free people and free markets?” His rhetoric suggests that he really believes in suffocating business and property owners and eroding personal freedoms. My instincts tell me that the entire freedom agenda is under assault, and I only hope that I am wrong. I still have hope for a McCain miracle, but I now realize that I must adjust my expectations.
