Obama's Grandmother Passes Away

Madelyn Dunham, Barack Obama's grandmother, has passed away after a bout with cancer.

Obama suspended his campaign on October 23 to fly to Honolulu, Hawaii and visit her. Madelyn was 86.

Barack Obama and his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, issued the following statement ...

"It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer. She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring. Our debt to her is beyond measure.

Our family wants to thank all of those who sent flowers, cards, well-wishes, and prayers during this difficult time. It brought our grandmother and us great comfort. Our grandmother was a private woman, and we will respect her wish for a small private ceremony to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to any worthy organization in search of a cure for cancer."

62. I don't trust Obama he would do anything to win.
Grandma dies conveniently just before the election for the sympathy vote.
They should investigate that sister of his.
Obama is an selfish egotistical opportunist.

66. Very sad. I am not an Obama supporter but sorry for his loss. However, if she voted they need to discount her vote.

67.
I'm a McCain supporter but see no reason for anyone to talk ill of the dead. She lived a long life and I'm sure she was proud of her grandson. It always hurts when you lose a family member especially to cancer. I've been there and it is horrible. Gramma's are all so special.
If Obama wins tomorrow so be it, but his gramma's death, whenever it is she died, at least deserves our condolences to her family. Rest in peach Gramma.

68. This is the woman he threw under the bus as a "typical white person". The woman whom his wife and kids wouldn't go visit on their Hawaii vacation recently - and he only went to see her for one hour.

The press is making a huge deal out of little. She raised Barry when his mother was too busy running all over the world - but his actions don't show much appreciation.

Pretty telling about this man. His brother lives in hut, his aunt lives in a slum in Boston - yet he's his "Brother's Keeper". Ha. He speaks with a forked tongue. Better watch out.

I think we all know how hard it is to lose someone we love. Republicans, democrats, or otherise, it still hurts.

I wonder if all the people posting on here have, or are going to vote? Because if you don't, and you're on here talking $hit about either party, you're a moron. Go vote!

74. God speed the beautiful soul of Mrs. Dunham! My heart goes out to Senator Obama and his sister as their maternal grandmother (along with their mother) was such an important guiding force in their lives. They are incredibly intelligent, beautiful, compassionate, and loving people.

Unless all the lies and disgraceful tactics of McCain-Palin and the Republican Party fraud win at the end of tomorrow, the greater percentage of Americans will have reason to celebrate on behalf of our great Forefathers, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Robert F. Kennedy and many others who have walked the land of the United States of America.
