Fantasia Lends Voice to Hudson's Grieving

There was no diva in former "Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino on Monday, when she provided what several accounts say was the "emotional crescendo" for Jennifer Hudson family's memorial service.

The Chicago Tribune reports Oprah, Fantasia, Missy Elliot, Queen Latifah, and Clive Davis were among the celebs who came to the private memorial service in Chicago. Fantasia, who beat out Jennifer in season three of "Idol," sang "Your Grace and Mercy."

"I think it healed Jennifer's soul just then," said a family friend.

16. Fantasia is a talented vocalist and I think it was great of her to have sung at the funeral. It could not have been easy for her.

17. ONE THING I DO KNOW, EVEN IF FANTAISA'S HAIR WAS "RED" AT THE FUNERAL, WHEN SHE STOOD BACK IN HER LEGS, CLOSED HER EYES AND HELD HER HEAD BACK AND OPENED HER MOUTH, "SHE TURNED IT OUT." SHE SUNG FROM HER HEART AND SOUL FOR HER FRIEND, JENNIFER AND HER FAMILY. THAT'S WHAT A REAL FRIEND IS. I JUST WISH I COULD HAVE HEARD HER SING THAT SONG....

18. #11 believe me when I say that Oprah does not need Jennifer for her show. If she never sees Jennifer again her show will continue to be a success. Trust that!!!

19. Even when a person is grieving and someone is there to give comfort, haters are always trying to find the bad. My prayers are with this family. Shame on those of you who always want to look at the negative side of things. For once be thankful that this happen to you or your family. From the way you express yourself, I doubt many people would want to show up to pay their respects to the disrespectful.

20. Queen Latifah's brother Lance, was killed in a motorcycle accident. It was NOT due to gun violence. God Bless the Hudson family.

I REALLY THINK THAT ALL OF THE FAMOUS PEOPLE THAT SHOWED UP AT THE FUNERAL WERE JUST TRYING TO HELP JENNIFER THROUGH SUCH A HARD TIME , I THINK THAT THEY WERE JUST THERE BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO HELP HER OUT , GASH SHE JUST LOST MOST OF HER FAMILY , I THINK THAT THE LEAST THING ON OPRAHS MIND IS HER SHOW SHE PROBABLY WAS A GOOD FRIEND OF JENNIFER AND JUST WANTED TO BE THERE FOR HER. GOD BLESS YOU JENNIFER AND MAY YOU HAVE THE STRENGH TO DEAL WITH THIS DAY BY DAY.

22. I can only give my heartfelt condolences to this whole family and friends, the greiving. Jennifer and the rest of her family must know that they are loved and cherished by many many people and by Fantasia singing will sow just how much and sooth the souls. Funerals are mostly for the living family to say good by and to sanctify and send the lost souls to heaven. I am happy many new and true friends were there to give their respects and the old friends too and yes, all funerals remind people of their dearly departed loved ones, everybody sometime or another has lost someone close to them, and if not ,THEY WILL.Jennifer will overcome this she must.And the celebs there will help her, she will need them to lean on. Julia must now start over, however the outcome will be, it will be hard, very hard on her poor soul and she will need them too and her family, and friends too. I hope they are not too numb to go out and vote today, if Jennifer missed voting, that would be really sad too.I am still consumed with this and I will keep waiting for the truth to come out and Justice for Julian, Jason, And Darnell.The End...

23. Fantasia is the best! I am not surprised to hear how Fantasia rose to comfort Jennifer Hudson so beautifully at this occasion. I had the great pleasure of meeting Fantasia at a book signing in New Jersey a couple of years ago.
She is a totally delightful and also a very thoughtful person. She was so friendly and charming to everybody at the book-signing event, taking time to chat and pose for pictures with children and signing complicated inscriptions for all.
When I complimented her on her incredible version of "Summertime" she sang a few words for me. I was so touched that she would do that.
Like Jennifer, Fantasia has a unique gift in her incredible voice, and she is a generous and giving person. My very best to both both of these talented young women.

27. Every celebrity that showed up to the Hudson's funeral serrvice were invited. The funeral was "invite only". I am very happy that they showed up. I would want my friends there for me in trouble times such as this. God Bless Jennifer, Julia, Angela, Karen, and the other Hudson siblings, and the rest of their family.
