Nelson Owes Milhouse Apology for "Gay" Slur

Nelson Muntz from "The Simpsons" is used to being in trouble, but now he's under fire over a "super gay" comment he made on Sunday's Halloween episode ... ha HUH?

The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), the people who teamed up with Hilary Duff to fight the offensive use of the phrase "that's so gay," is now going after Nelson for his homophobic comment on the show.

In a statement to TMZ, GLSEN says: "Nelson's use of 'that's so gay' in a negative way is not surprising considering that 90 percent of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth say they hear the term used this way frequently or often at school. Nelson should visit ThinkB4YouSpeak.com where he can send an apologetic e-card to Milhouse. GLSEN would also welcome Nelson's participation in our next PSA so he can make amends by helping to educate young people about why such language is wrong."

A rep for the show was not immediately available for comment. Nelson's people couldn't be reached for comment either ... since he's a cartoon.

18. My daughter is a lesbian. Her and her friends use this expression all the time - this is just like the blacks gettin up in arms when we say n*gga, n*gger, yet they can say it all the time and nothing. get a life people it just words stop taking everything so seriously, you are the ones making this an issue.

21. This is getting so old. The word gay does not mean lesbian to begin with, the word means happy, not gay. So how can 1 say the word was used wrong when the word is out of context anyway. People need to get a life. And I hope when the apoligy is demanded they Fox tells them to stick it up there asses, so to speak. And I have nothing at all against gay people, just people who sit around waiting for a slip of the tongue whereever they can find it.

24. Just for GLSEN if I were either a Fox or Simpsons executive I'd create two more regular Simpsons characters, let's say; "OLSEN" a real gay male & "OLSINE" a lesbian female. When I got done constantly poking fun at the two newbies on every episode GLSEN WOULD wish they never opened their mouths! F-OFF YOU A-HOLES!

29. oh my gosh! this is so pathetic! ya know... once upon a time the word gay was used all the time to describe a person as happy. how do we know that nelson wasn't saying that the grand pumpkin is so happy?

i think people need to give it a rest already! this are only racist if you're a racist! things are only sexist if you're a sexist! things are only homophobic sounding if you're homophobic! i think that people need to calm the heck down already and give it a rest! there are worse things in this world to worry about... like the genocide in darfur, or domestic violence, or child abuse, or millions of other much better things to complain about!!!!!!!!!!!
