Underwood Picks a Fight with Half of Hollywood

Carrie UnderwoodThe next time you see a celebrity in a political ad, just know Carrie Underwood thinks that person is stupid.

The former "American Idol" found a soapbox, climbed on it, and proceeded to bash the hell out of all sorts of famous people like Timberlake, Stallone, Affleck and Oprah -- for their decision to publicly endorse a candidate for president.

Underwood tells TV Guide, "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions ... music is where you go to get away from all the BS."

211. I totally disagree with Carrie Underwood!
Celebrities didn't lose their citizenship once they become famous.
Why should Carrie Underwood be the only celebrity to open her yap?

Carrie Underwood works in an entertainment world, where she better go redneck, if she's going to say anything political. If she disagrees with the male establishment, she will be boycotted by the radio stations owned by rich, male conservatives!
(Just ask the Dixie Chicks! Just ask Willie Nelson, who holds similar views as that group, but was not boycotted; he, however, noted the double standard!)

It's the easiest thing for Carrie Underwood to attack Hollywood. It's a good country-career move for her! Nothing courageous about that!

Oh, that Hollywood would wage a counter-attack on these country bimbos; male and female!

212. Celebrities have free speech just like the rest of us. They are not shoving anything down anyone's throat. This is a democracy. If you don't like the message, change the channel. This is still America and we have the right to endorse our favorite candidate. Most of the celebrities endorsed Obama/Biden. Carrie more than likely supported McCain and Palin, to no avail.

214. TO THE PERSON REFERRING TO CARRIE AS AN IGNORANT COUNTRY BUMPKIN. YOU MIGHT WANT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE TEST SCORES OF EVERY INNER CITY HIGH SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY, AND LET US ALL KNOW WHO'S IGNORANT. GOOD FOR YOU CARRIE.

215. I believe whatever this woman says is her opinion and that's it. Actors, Musicians, Mimes, etc. can endorse anyone and anything they choose. They are real human beings, just like she is. If she's so strong about what she believes in say it to the people who she chooses to call stupid... Now that's moxi

216. wow! so young, so considerate. i am impressed. as a 77 years old i love it!
for those people who always threaten to leave the country if their candidate choice does not win, i wonder why they think we care? and even more wonder why they don''t go? we get these "promises" every election and no one keeps their word. shame on them.

217. I agree with Carrie . I do not think celebrities should publicly endorse candidates . There are way too many people who idolize stars , believe them to be god like . Oprah for instance has a huge following of worshippers around the world, some of them I believe would follow her to hell if she told them ,ah it's not that hot here. Lets face it , some people just can't rationalize for themselves, they have to be spoon fed a decision.

218. When I grew up it was unheard of and an absolute no no to ask someone who they were supporting or voted for. I think it should still be that way, and no I'm not old as dirt either. Yeah it is a celebrities right to endorse any candidate or cause they choose. The point here is that celebs carry a great deal of clout with their stardome. Just as the biased news media should be ignored 75% of the time, so should celebrities. Do they think we can't figure out who they support with their smear tactics, and political bashing? I read the comments of some of you stating the stars rights to support whomever they want just as you did , with signs and such, but I didn't realize we had so many of the STARs posting on this board. And yes I supported OBAMA so there.

219. I am now a Carrie Underwood fan. Finally a star that doesn't think her opinion means something to anyone.
You are right Carrie. !! Why do stars think that they can influence perfectly smart people who can make there own decisions.
It goes with there giant egos to think that we give a s..t what they think. Finally a star that is grounded enough to have a clue.

220. If America is "smart enough to make their own decisions" it should not matter if a canidate is endorse by a celebrity or not. I believe that ultimately, America will choose who is the best canidate will be for the job at that time. So what if celebrities use their fame to speak on issues that effect all Americans, I think it gives them substance and humanity.

221. Are you for real. Wake up and grow up Carrie. This is the real world. If you are passionate about a candidate and believe he or she will work to improve the lives of the people in our country it's just plain stupid not to use whatever honest means you have to help them win. Not supporting your candidate is just plain stupid no matter who you are. Celebrities just have a bigger platform than most of us. Another thing, we all have the freedom to either listen or not to listen to celebrities and what they say. Turn off the tv or whatever if you don't want to listen.

222. WOW! Believe it or not people, celebrities are REAL PEOPLE, too! They can endorse whoever the hell they want. Publicly, too! You all choose whether to disclose that kind of information to people. Why should they be treated any differently?

225. Good for you Carrie! Well said! Those morally degenerate pukes in Hollywood are not "just an average citizen" as so many half-wits claim! Joe the Plumber aside when was the last time the average American could get their opinion heard all over the world. Now if all they did was say "I support candidate X because of his/her positions on a number of issues" then NO ONE would care! But these big-mouthed idiots are out there bashing the person they are not voting for which is what makes so many Americans angry! I personally will boycott every stuck-up arrogant puke who bashed Governor Palin! I don't care if their movies make hundreds of millions of dollars and take home every award on the planet just so long as MY MONEY isn't supporting those pukes movies or TV shows or any product they might endorse, then I will be satisfied. However I will not boycott every Democrat in Hollywood! Jodie Foster is most likely a liberal Democrat but because she behaves with class and didn't publicly bash Governor Palin I will support any movie she makes or product she might endorse. I believe celebrities who behave with class deserve support regardless of their political party. You see, I don't hate liberals, my older brother is a liberal democrat but he is not an idiot! I'm quite certain he voted for Obama but he didn't once bash Governor Palin! He made his points using logic not hatred! Maybe some of you should try it sometime! LOL!! Maybe in 2012 those idiots in Hollywood will figure out that it's not that they are speaking out in support of a particular candidate but rather how they are going about it! Maybe some will be up in arms over a celebrity saying who they will support but too bad! Just saying who you are voting for is everyone's right! But when you get some stuck-up elitist jack-a** like Matt Damon running his big mouth bashing Governor Palin, now that is what angers many votes! Voters, who by the way make up a portion of many of Hollywood's fan-base. So these morons don't care that they are ticking off a large portion of their fan base? Not only are they a bunch of stuck-up elitist but they are also extremely stupid!!
