Underwood Picks a Fight with Half of Hollywood

Carrie UnderwoodThe next time you see a celebrity in a political ad, just know Carrie Underwood thinks that person is stupid.

The former "American Idol" found a soapbox, climbed on it, and proceeded to bash the hell out of all sorts of famous people like Timberlake, Stallone, Affleck and Oprah -- for their decision to publicly endorse a candidate for president.

Underwood tells TV Guide, "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions ... music is where you go to get away from all the BS."

16. Allow me to translate:

"Celebs - please do not endorse candidates because the dumb American people might listen to you and vote for the person you tell them to."

17. It's one thing to endorse - it's another thing to preach... And to rant like a lunatic about topics you really don't understand - or at least haven't thought through.

Carrie is one of the first celebrities to talk some sense here. Well done.

18. She is correct. Celebs fluffy little brains need only worry about the next movie they will attempt to act in.

19. i agree with her, keep your opinions to yourself. each person that plans on voting should read up and learn what both parties platforms are. celebrities shouldn't have anything to do with how you vote.

22. I agree with her, it is ok for celebrities to vote, but when they make publicly who they are voting, it isn't right for the other candidate to get airtime.

so screw those celebrities that made publicly who they are voting.

29. I agree with her completely!! The celebs cry that they don't want anyone to know about their personal lives. That it's no ones business to know personal things only what pertains to their career. Celebs should just keep their mouths shut. The stupid people that listen to them because they think the celebs know everything should just get a life. Figure out what is best for you and your family and not look at the color of the candidates skin!!!!

30. Good for her. It drives me CRAZY when celebrities use "their voice" to influence other voters. Why on Earth would "regular" citizens look to celebrities when forming their opinion. Let's think about it; Celebrities are typically uneducated, attention hungry, rely on others to speak for them, rely on others to tell them how to dress, and notorious for following the latest trends. Do they really sound like people who should be referenced when deciding who will run our country? Not to mention that considering that they are ridiculously wealthy, they will probably vote for the candidate who will benefit them. If the average voter were smart he/she would do exactly opposite of those celebrities who shill their votes.
