Underwood Picks a Fight with Half of Hollywood

Carrie UnderwoodThe next time you see a celebrity in a political ad, just know Carrie Underwood thinks that person is stupid.

The former "American Idol" found a soapbox, climbed on it, and proceeded to bash the hell out of all sorts of famous people like Timberlake, Stallone, Affleck and Oprah -- for their decision to publicly endorse a candidate for president.

Underwood tells TV Guide, "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions ... music is where you go to get away from all the BS."

47. I completely agree with Carrie Underwood...Not a huge fan of hers but half of the celebrities follow the lead of others to further their fame and careers...I laugh when i see that lil hayden Pentiera do her lil ads...that girl saves whales...i respect people that vote for themselves and not what someone of celebrity status says...I would put my life on half of them have not the first clue on what the issues are...their publicists tell them what the best strategy is...You go Carrie!!!

48. She is completely right. If you support one over the other publicly you alienate any fans you had of the other party. Just look at what happened to The Dixie Bitches.

49. Carrie is a smart woman. Some of these neurotic celebrities think they are God, (COUGH! COUGH! OPRAH!) and think that the people are stupid enough to believe them and do what they say. Sadly, some of the American public ARE that stupid and brain dead that it actually makes a difference to them what these actors say. Give me a break! Most of them are either under a headshrinker's care, on drugs or booze, in the middle of a messy divorce or scandal, and can't even keep their own lives on an even keel. And we are supposed to listen to them? HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

50. Smart and beautiful. Good for you, Carrie. I love celebrities voting on behalf of the little people...you know, the little people who most celebrities keep out via their gated communities, fences and bodyguards. These folks wouldn't recognize real life if they released a sex tape with it. Again, props to Carrie for actually speaking for most Americans by remaining silent.

51. SHE IS RIGHT! i AM SICK OF ALL STARS THINKING WE SHOULD VOTE THEY WAY THEY WANT! I AM AN AMERICAN WITH THE FREEDOM TO PICK AND CHOSE WHO I WANT AND I AM NOT INTERESTED IN WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY! KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! THE CANIDATES SHOULD KEEP IT TO THE ISSUES AND TELL US HOW THEY ARE GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEMS OF THIS COUNTRY!!!

52. I agree with her. I've said the exact same thing.

53. I could not agree more!! I'm so glad that someone finally said it!!!!!! YES, we as Americans have a right to voice our opinions!!! but, celebrities have NO RIGHT to use thier status to tell us how to vote unless they are REALLY educated in politics. Lets be honest there are alot of people out there who worship these people and will vote for whoever THEY say to vote for instead of researching issues on thier own and making thier own INFORMED decision!! I LOVE THIS GIRL FOR FINALLY SAYING WHAT I'VE BEEN THINGING FOR YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!

56. She's not dumb -- and thanks for showing your humanity. When you disagree with someone - call them names - makes you feel good right??
If you think these high celebs don't influence voters, you are naive. It shouldn't happen - but unfortunately we live in a world that idolizes athletes and celebs. We let Oprah tell us what to read, we buy shoes that the latest greatest athlete says is the best. So if somone with clout says this politician is the best - some people are swayed.
It's sad and wrong -- voters should be educated on the issues - if they aren't they shouldn't vote. It's that important.

Good for her - she has the guts to go against the A list!!

57. I totally agree with Carrie. I lose respect of those that are going on national tv (and you know they are getting paid to do it) and try to sway american votes.

58. I am now a Carrie Underwood fan! Half of Hollywood didn't even make it out of high school, and people rely on them to understand complex political and economic issues?! Carrie has got it right, and I'm so proud that someone in the spotlight finally stood up to say so.

59. Agreed. Personally, I feel no one should be endorsing anyone, except for people who work within that party. Let people make there own desicions
