Underwood Picks a Fight with Half of Hollywood

Carrie UnderwoodThe next time you see a celebrity in a political ad, just know Carrie Underwood thinks that person is stupid.

The former "American Idol" found a soapbox, climbed on it, and proceeded to bash the hell out of all sorts of famous people like Timberlake, Stallone, Affleck and Oprah -- for their decision to publicly endorse a candidate for president.

Underwood tells TV Guide, "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions ... music is where you go to get away from all the BS."

61. Celebrities have every right to speak their mind, just like anyone else in America. Thats what you do when you feel passionate about something. If you are dumb enough to vote for someone just because your favorite movie star is, then that is your own stupid fault.

62. # 40 You hit the nail on the head. We think alike. Hope the majority of the rest of the world thinks that way too. I do have more money in my pocket these days. It's easy not to support "celebs" any more..They think their word is the "gospel". NOT !!!!!

63. Underwood is right on the money. Nobody outside of Hollywood gives a damn what movie stars think. Just act and shut up.

66. She is absolutely right. Even though celebrities have the right to publicly endorse who they want their influence over the general public cancels taht out. Most people who are voting for the first time are just doing what a celeb told them to do. And when you get to the Oprah level of celebrity the influence is just to great. Celebrities need to be more responible with how they act and what they say in public. This goes for good and bad decisions.

67. She is 100% right. Yes actors/actress have the right to free speech, but when they go has far as telling the public to vote for a certain candidate is wrong. Many people do look up to these celebs, and are dumb enough to actually listen. P Diddy (or whoever is calls himself these days) started saying the phrase “Vote Obama or Die.” When most of these celebs open their mouth about the election, it usually doesn’t have anything to do with facts and raw data. It is just them blabbing on and on..

And yes they are taxpayers, but they have one thing us NORMAL Americans don’t. A TAX CONSULTANT! One that helps them reduce their taxes and tell them what to do with their money in order to pay the lowest taxes possible, so I wouldn’t trust them in making a president decision for me.

I couldn’t give a care what celebs say, because I’m smart. However, there are impressionable young people out there that don’t the issues and facts. All they see is people like Matt Damon and P Diddy on T.V. telling them who to vote for.

68. I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH HER COMMENT !!! We have to keep in mind that even though we are intelligent enough to not let an a$$hole "so-called" celebrity influence us on how to vote ... THERE ARE A LOT OF CELEBRITY LUVN IDIOTS THAT ARE INFLUENCED BY WHAT THEY HEAR AND SAY !!!!! So Carrie has a point in stating what she did !!!

69. I agree totally with her!! they have so much money they don't give a crap who gets in there!! People are sooo into celebrities that, yes-they are dumb enough to vote for who they are voting for!

72. Unfortunately there are many who listen to celebrities and musicians. Why do a lot of celebrities go on Oprah? Because they become even more rich and famous. When I go to a concert or watch an award show, I want to escape everyday life-I really don't want to hear how the government sucks. These celebrities wouldn't make 20% of their earnings if they lived anywhere else in the world. I also laugh that anyone rich is a republican-most of your Democrats in Congress including Obama are millionaires and they give very little to charity-and I'm sure all the celebrities in Hollywood pushing for Obama have already hid their money elsewhere-they aren't going to pay higher taxes... It really is a freakin joke.

73. Sounds like Carrie is going for McCain and is bitter at his impending loss. I think what Carrie forgot about us...freedom of speech? THAT'S why celebrities talk about politics, because they're humans and they have opinions and they want to share them. If you're really passionate about something and you have a way of reaching people, you do it. She's a dumb dumb.

74. I agree, I have no problem with them endorsing someone at a rally. when you go to thier concert you want to hear music not political issues as this is your time to relax and enjoy thier talent not thier political opinions.

75. All that tells me is that she is just ashamed to admit that she is supporting McCain like all the other inbred rednecks
