Underwood Picks a Fight with Half of Hollywood

Carrie UnderwoodThe next time you see a celebrity in a political ad, just know Carrie Underwood thinks that person is stupid.

The former "American Idol" found a soapbox, climbed on it, and proceeded to bash the hell out of all sorts of famous people like Timberlake, Stallone, Affleck and Oprah -- for their decision to publicly endorse a candidate for president.

Underwood tells TV Guide, "There is someone I do support, but I don't support publicly. I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate. It's saying that the American public isn't smart enough to make their own decisions ... music is where you go to get away from all the BS."

76. GOOD FOR HER!!!!!! Celebrities/singers should stick to what they know best......acting and singing. They need to remember their fanbase is made up of democrats and republicans.

77. I completely agree with Carrie's comments. The media is biased as it is - we certainly don't need celebrities trying to influence the masses.

Regardless of which candidate/party you support - remember they are politicians. Every one of them is his own "actor." They entertain and make promises to gain support. The real example of their integrity will be when they get a chance to actually fulfill the efforts they state in their speeches.

Voting is a right, and a personal choice. I don't believe it needs to be publicized. The celebrities that are fool enough to stand on a soapbox and preach to America about the candidate they support just makes me disrespect them even more. Most of them have the personality and intelligence of a common housefly, and yet they never hesitate to try and use their status as a means of demonstrating what THEY think is best for our nation. Give me a break! Most of them don't know how to pick their own noses without someone assisting them. Why the hell should we believe they have enough clout and knowledge to choose what's best for our country.

No matter what party you support, vote for the candidate you truly believe will bring the most good to the position. Don't vote for someone just because Justin Timberlake or P. Diddy told you who they thought was the best man for the job.

There is a test that most immigrants must pass to become an American citizen. I believe there should be a test to determine if a person possesses or lacks the capacity to truly understand the candidates, the issues, and the history behind our established right to vote that was founded in our Constitution. There are a lot of ill-informed individuals out there, and I place the celebrities who don't live in the "real" world with us working folks in that category. Ultimately, it is the working man that will either suffer or reap the benefits of this election.

Good for you, Carrie. Way to have a conviction without abusing your celebrity to voice it.

78. Smart girl.
Actors are dancing chickens. They are to entertain. If they have something to say they should follow in Arnold's foot steps and serve!

79. NUMBER TWO GO F--K YOUR DUMB ASS. LOSER YOU CAN NOT READ EVEN TO VOTE YOU MIGHT JUST GO ON COLOR LIKE THE REST OF THE DUMB ASS HOLES.

80. 100% AGREE!! I'm sick to death of these celebrities acting like they have all the answers, when most of them are not qualified to offer opinions on anything! These self-righteous, narcissistic celebrities who are making millions of dollars think they have the right to tell other people how to vote and think - ridiculous!

81. She's totally right. Why celebrities think who THEY want to vote for should have any effect on who the rest of us vote for is arrogant. I could care less what any celebrity says about politics. YOU ARE ENTERTAINERS, not political science graduates.

82. I agree with her.

83. Celebs have the right to endorse a candidate publicly but should not!!!! They think they are better and know better than us regular americans!!!!

84. I think she's right. Celebrities have an unfare advantage in that they can get free media time anytime they want it. The rest of us can't. It's an abuse of a privelage. And besides, what do they know about the real world. The actors profession is a lie. They pretend to be other people saying things written by other people photographed in made up settings. They have people to call the other peoples people. They are given things free (freedom for many included). If you or I did any of the things they get away with and get probation we would get the death sentence. Yup, I want to have celebrities dictate my thinking on world affairs. Then there's musicians...Give me Kinky Friedman all day long...he's in touch!

85. I love hearing that a celebrity doesn't think that her opinion matters more than others....she is getting paid to entertain, not to inform

86. Good for her. She is absolutely right! They should STF up about who they're voting for. Who gives a $hi! who they vote for. They are mostly morons. What as the article I read about Akon moving out of the country if McCain wins? How ridiculous - move now dumbass!!
McCain/Palin 08

87. She's absolutely right. Why would anyone want to go to the shallow end of the gene pool for political analysis?

88. I think it is about time someone addresses this issue. I hate hearing people using their "star power" to endorse political figures. I buy music because I like the way it sounds not because of who they vote for. Keep politics off the stage and just entertain us!!! That is why you are a star.

89. Wow,

Good for you Carrie. I very much agree. It is an insult to the public when these celebs try to convince us what to do.

90. I couldn't agree with her more and if she has pissed some of these people off, well TOO BAD. These people have pissed me off because frankly I could care less who these people have "endorsed" Like their opinions mean more than the average persons. I don't run around telling people who I am voting for and I don't care to have others opinions shoved down my throat. KEEP IT TO YOURSELVES. YOU GO CARRIE!
