Oh-Pra Please!
Forget Rahm! Oprah's gonna be Obama's host whisperer. Yet she just won't admit the depth of her power.

46. Responding to a few more of the statements I have heard, specifically in regards to my comment post, before returning to my homework..
It frightens me how "racism" is being used as something solely about individuals. It has becomes a tool of distraction for many people.. Like those who would call my first comment challenging us to think outside of normalized patterns "racist". When we look at racism simply as individual hatred rather than systemic disadvantage it allows us to never truly look at the way our country functions and continues to be at its core racist. That is not to say that all people are, specifically all white people, are inherently more racist, but when you have a country, or better yet Western Civilization that was built on racial oppression, it becomes hard for people not to be socialized into racist patterns of thinking and to support racist institutional practices.
This becomes clear when people can continually overlook that Oprah can and is legitmate in her supprot of Obama not only because of his politics but also because of the fcat that he is a Black Man. My challenge, my question is that why does that scare us so much??? I won't quote bell hooks again but you can refer to my last comment and see that i think that to be a person of any race and to openly love and support Blackness in this country stands to be scrutinized and held as "reverse racism"
Also, referring to the person that said Obama did not when by a landslide I was in fact referring to electoral and not popular votes...however in either case he did significantly beat McCain.
Also, referring to the individual who says Obama is not Black..indeed he is...because of the melanin in his skin, because he is a member of the African Diaspora
Lastly, to that person who called me ignorant and racist because I said that people should stop "blaming" Black people for Obama's victory. I was in fact referencing comments on other blogs and in other forums in which I had heard such nonsense and if you read my comment a little clearer you would see that i too agree that to "blame" Black folks for Obama's win is ignorant.

48. You know and I know that it's only a matter of time before Obama and Oprah start laying hands on people and healing the sick.

49. Critical thinker It is obvious from your post that you have a bias. You have a deep rooted , pathalogical "core", which manifests itself in the prejudice & racism that you bitterly project onto others. You are, actually, a pompass ass.: a narrow minded little person with twisted thought s & ideas. It is not necessary to re-read your vomit inducing coments again, to induce clarity regarding your post_______you are perfectly obvious___and obtuse.

50. In response to: Critical thinker It is obvious from your post that you have a bias. What is obvious from my post is that I am in fact what I say I am which is a CriticalThinker, willing to challenge and question the ideologies of our nation. Your need to resort to name calling and your inability to engage my argument shows me just how dead on my comments have been, as you have reinforced the very notions that I am speaking of. That being said I do not project prejudice and racism onto others rather I actively seek to deconstruct notions of race that whether we like to believe or not play out in our national institutions. As Beverly Tatum says "we all inhale the smog of racism" through socialization and it is up to us to challenge that within ourselves and within institutions. . I find it sad that you find my comments pompous and vomit inducing or that you think I am narrow minded or little, because I stand as a student at one of the nation's top ten liberal arts college I am a part of a generation of students that a. support our new president and b. will be the future leaders and educators of this country. So on that note, maybe you should leave this country, pick up a book, or just prepared to be very uncomfortable that old ideas and patterns are being challenged. Better yet, just try and be open. My comments are not attacks, they are ideas that can be agreed or disagreed with but please try and move to a place where our country is one that is accepting of new discourses rather than fearful and needing to resort to childish name-calling. Thank you.
PS... If you are interested in reading some of the academic literature that has leant itself to the development of my beliefs and are being widely taught in our nation's colleges and universities please feel free to pick up a book by Paolo Friere, bell hooks, or Beverly Tatum...oh and if you think my comments are pompous I'd say go for Tatum first...she may be an easy read for you

51. You know some of you "haters" make me very uncomfortable in my white skin. President Elect Obama won the election by a land slide. Meaning many whites had to have voted for him in order to achieve such a feat. I'm a republican, I voted for McCain, and I'm in the military. The first thing I did when Obama won the election was pray. I prayed that God would give him the strength needed to get this country going in the right direction and most importantly for the safety of him and his family. There are many reasons I didn't support President Elect Obama but not one of those reasons was for the color of his skin. People! Please get over the color barrier in this country and love thy neighbor regardless of skin color.
One thing I must say for the Black Community and that is at least they embrace their culture and heritage. Whites have little to no respect for their own culture and heritage which is sad because we have so much to be thankful for and proud of. And the thing that kicks me is that....blacks and whites have been shedding their blood for this country since the very beginning. Let it go people!

52. Critical Thinker Bully for you. If you could dissect yourself from your dogmatic, prosetylizing literature, which you draw on, like a crutch , just maybe you could think_ never mind "critically". Fearful ? Don't project your own vulnerabilities onto others. You are still a pompous ass. That is what you project to me from your post.

54. Critical Thinker, I laugh at your self-congratulatory profession of enlightenment. You speak of racial oppression? How about when blacks betrayed their own race and sold other blacks into slavery? Or has that significant historical fact somehow escaped your "education". Americans didn't invent slavery, nor racism. So shut the hell up about racism, because you are not qualified to discuss the topic due to gross ignorance. I am sick to death of hearing about prejudice out of the mouths of the most racially insensitive group of humans on the face of the earth.

55. Oprah LOVES Oprah and should stick to her(overrated) show and book club. I hope Obama keeps his distant from her. NOTHING Oprah does or saids interests me at all. I don't care what color Oprah is or how much money she makes or how much she has she is OVERPAID AND OVERRATED!

56. Critical Thinker You have an undercurrent in your posts. You spew forth like a trained monkey. You are either brainwashed or lobotomized. You reek of "Nation of Islam".............or a generic version.

57. To Critcal Thinker: Ah yes, exactly as expected________you are predictable. No critical thinking required_______ you are like an "easy read book". Has anyone been kind enough to tell you that you are a boring "little tit" ??

58. CriticalThinker, someday maybe, but it's premature to make that claim now. I don't know if your mind is under the thumb of a sixties era faux-elite, pseudo- intellectual professor or if maybe you're taking a course in sophistry. Either way there is nothing new or unique in your academic diatribes. Free your institutionalized mind.

60. To the Poster Critical thinker Why are you so smug & condescending ? So, you attend college ? Your point is "what?" Who gives a flying rats ass about your "artsy-fartsy education, you pretentious twit. It hasn't served you well. Attending college or university does not equate with elitism, or intelligence. Your solution for a person who does not accept new discourse, is to leave the country., or "pick up a book". The latter , being your implication {presumption} that , the person in question is uneducated. You are extremely presumptive and judgemental. In view of your "educational status",with which you have arrogantly & boastfully force-fed the posters, I would say that you qualify as the most ignorant poster on this blog.
