The Day The Music Television Died

Since "Total Request Live" will officially be defunct after tonight's final episode, MTV should consider changing its name to "Real World/Road Rules Challenge Reruns TV."

Just a suggestion.

16.
MTV was awesome when it first came out. Nothing but MUSIC and it gave all the artists a good reason to make some awesome, creative videos. Too bad they don't do all their reality BS and crap shows on a spin off station and leave the real MTV to what made it great and made people watch - MUSIC. I haven't bothered to watch in forever.

18. I very rarely say this, but I agree with you, tmz. I don't even watch MTV anymore. It's not relevant.

19. I remember when I was growing up I would watch MTV all day, so what if they played Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" constantly, I loved the channel tons! Now (and the last 10 or so years) it's just sad. It's funny how they still have the MTV Video Music Awards.

20. Yeah, you're right- It really has become a mock channel now, who watched that real world challenge, anyway? what a joke- I'm now watching Havoctv on Direct101- it still shows videos!

21. Oh my God............can this network just die already! I have watched MTV since it first came on the air with "video killed the radio star". I love music and consider myself to be open minded but MTV is just awful right now. They need to just get rid of it altogether. Their reality shows show nothing but self indulgent you adults and teenagers spoiled beyond belief and needing a good reality check. Kill it off already!!!!!!!!

27. It's been that way for a while, I think. It's sad. I hate MTV and I never watch it because of it's sorry shows. Kids shouldn't even watch it. I think anyone under 18 shouldn't watch it. Their shows are borderline pornos, with a little bit of censoring. It's sick. Whatever happened to being able to turn on a station and just watch music videos? Country is about the only music you can do that too and unfortunately, it's getting up there with MTV.

29. MTv sucks and has for a long time. You're better off paying for an expanded cable package to get channels that broadcast music videos. Otherwise, they should change their name to RTv (reality television). What a joke.....
