The Day The Music Television Died

Since "Total Request Live" will officially be defunct after tonight's final episode, MTV should consider changing its name to "Real World/Road Rules Challenge Reruns TV."

Just a suggestion.

92. I remember when MTV played music as well. I stopped watching years ago after MTV started playing mostly Reality shows and it was hard to find any music programming. Hell.. even Beavis and Butthead had some music in the programming that still made it appropriate for a channel called Music Television. Bring back the music, and creativity .. and I'll start watching again.

93. MTV has a couple of channels just for music videos, MTV Hits and MTV Jams, also VH1 has two music video channels just for music vidoes as well so I don't understand why you say MTV doesn't play music videos anymore, they have two channels devoted just to music videos and that's all they play on those channels. So what's wrong with having a channel for reality shows as well? If you want to watch music videos tune into MTV Hits or MTV Jams.

94. umm well what happened to the great I MEAN great video productions, like Thriller and SOOOO many more, that people used to do. Sorry rap doesnt cut a spectacular video, song and dance does no matter what you do. Rap is OK, but great videos are super to watch. Step it up, get out of reality TV so much and the cra---- you are dealing out, I would watch it more.

96. @ poster #89 - MTV Jams and MTV Hits are carried on pricier digital cable packages, which most Americans don't have at this point. MTV apparently thinks we actually want 24/7 reality TV but they are wrong - dead wrong.

97. MTV was the bomb when I was growing up! The 80's totally rocked!! I remember the First Real World...then it went all down hill from there. They came up with MTV2, and that rocked too, then it turned into another Real World lala land! It is just like CMT. Its not Country Music, it's Hulk Hogans Wrestle Star crap! What happened to the good old days? I remember staying up watching Video Blocks on MTV, now it's just Sex with Mom and Dad. I mean who the hell cares?

98. The Internet Killed the Video Star. I agree with you #55DRZA Pop music really does suck. There is no ambition. What ever happened to it . What ever happened to good old fashion hard work like playing with real instruments, snapping your fingers great vocals and when you heard these great songs you were able to flow with the music. Now why do they use computers to create music? Computers are good for games, Autocad, word processing, and editing pictures. For music computers should only assist in storage and organizing, not creating fake sounds. I call that Half A** Music

100. I think MTV should have been canceled a long time ago since they decided to wrongly go after conservatives.

101. i liked trl when they actually showed the whole videos [i watched it around 1999-2000] teeny bopper years. they usually played the whole video back then. now you're lucky if you get one, i don't know what "musically" you would call it but you get like 1/3 of the song if you're lucky. stupid. mtv is dumb now. i thought it was supposed to be for music? it's like all reality shows now. they should change the station's name.
