Many Alaskans get their meat mostly by hunting. She (Palin) has said in interviews that just 1 moose and the fish they catch can tide them over almost all winter. They hardly have to go to the store for their meat. Having to ship meat and produce into Alaska is extremely expensive and many Alaskans can't afford it. Now granted, a governors salary could purchase the meat for them, I am sure, but this is the way she was raised. Living in Washington State, my dad supplemented our meat supply by hunting waterfowl. I guess that makes us hicks too. People just ordinarily don't get to see how they actually get their meat.

I am aware that the turkey and the meat that I eat was once walking. I just don't like to see them killed. I probably would become a vegetarian if I were to see them being slaughtered. As for Sarah Palin.. I REALLY like her. But did she not think that she would get lambasted by the media for this?
