Kathy Cox may be smarter than a 5th grader, but she's now just as broke as one.
Kathy won $1 million on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" in September. But here's the deal. She donated her winnings to charity, banking on her husband's construction biz which apparently had been running just fine. But his construction company tanked with the economy, and now they've declared bankruptcy.

41. Retards at TMZ have forgotten that the Democrats have had power since 2004. The Democrats were the ones benefitting from Fanny and Freddie's millions of dollars payouts to partisans. Republicans were the ones who warned Dems in 2004 and 2006 about the possible down fall of Fan and Fred that could put the economy and taxpayers at risk... and the Dems were the ones who didn't listen.

45. 15. Mrs. Cox and her family decided that whatever she won, they would donate to the school district, BEFORE she even went on the show. She was tempted to keep some of the money, but she kept her word and donated it ALL! That doesn't make her stupid, it makes her a woman of her word. And YES it's all Bush's fault that the economy sucks!! Until Jan. 20, 2009 he's still the president. It's comments like yours that make me very worried for the future of our country because it shows the appalling lack of knowledge that seems to be so commonplace in our society today. President Bush is one man - and he TRIED several times to stop this mess from happening but he was continuously thwarted by the Democrats. This is a democracy, in case you weren't aware, and in a democracy the President does not have the ability to make decisions in isolation. There is a system of checks and balances to prevent this, which is good, but it also means that not everything bad that happens can be blamed on the President. If you want to point fingers here, one of the primary reasons our economy is in the toilet is because the DEMOCRATS - yes, the DEMOCRATS - forced banks to loan money to hoardes of people that had no hope of paying the money back. Gee, is it a big coincidence that these are the very people who tend to vote for Democrats, who constantly promise to give them things they haven't earned? And all you morons who voted for Obama just condemned this country to go even further down the road towards Socialism then we have already gone.
