"5th Grade" Winner Goes Belly Up

Kathy Cox may be smarter than a 5th grader, but she's now just as broke as one.

Kathy won $1 million on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" in September. But here's the deal. She donated her winnings to charity, banking on her husband's construction biz which apparently had been running just fine. But his construction company tanked with the economy, and now they've declared bankruptcy.

Another happy George W memory. 57 days and counting.

76. Don't be sad repubs just cause your candidate got whipped in a landslide election....

The American people know better... that is why it was such a easy victory for Obama.... why have another 4 years of incompetence

80. Maybe one day you can catch up to me ARK. I'm holding out hope, just as your parents and teachers are.

81. Dan! You were doing so well and now this. A landslide is 6.5%? Look it up or shut up. And don't bother with the electoral vote diversion. The distribution of the vote is irrelevant. It was 6.5% of the popular vote.

Oh, Dan, are you and awwww conjoined at the forehead or are you two independently stupid?

82. Would all you George W. Palin supporters accept the fact that you LOST. Try again in 4 years...until then...shutup already, your whining is boring

83. You idiot - if you want to blame someone for our failing economy, why don't you start at the beginning - Jimmy Carter 1st and that lame ass Bill Clinton. Lets give credit where credit is due.

Also, it wasn't very smart on her part not to save some of it back for emergencies. Prior planning. Prior planning.

84. There you go ARK.. you were almost showing signs of intelligence there... so dissapointing..... I had so much faith in you ARK, and then you show your ignorance and lack of knowledge. Um, in America, there is this thing called the electoral college. For a quick lesson, our presidents are decided by the number of electoral votes received.

Nice, that you brought up the popular vote. If I recall by your reasoning, Al Gore should have been president then. He won the popular vote against George Bush. Try reading the news sometimes. It may help your intelligence to improve above a second-grade level.

85. Your right about one thing Dan... it was a landslide , because there were more people fooled than I could imagine. and as for the republicans crying and bitching wait tell Obama is in office we won't be the only ones . It will be those who wanted all the wonderful changes hes going to make.

86. It's very sad that so many Americans have no idea how our government and banking system works. What's even worse, they have no desire to learn. It's so much easier to just blame it on George. I'm not whining, but I'm scared. You should be also.

As for the lady who donated all her winnings to charity...charity begins at home, honey. You have to take care of #1. I'll be hiding my money and my gun under my bed. Don't know how to preserve my freedom of speech, but I'll find a way.

87. Dan poor Dan, starting a sentence with "Um" could keep you from getting that job at Taco Bell. And yes Dan, a candidate can win the popular vote and lose the election. But if your talking about how Americans voted (the popular vote), the distribution of the vote isn't very telling. It's happened before. But don't despair, Dan, they don't teach logical thinking in kindergarten, but when reach the second grade like me, a whole new world opens up.

Oh, since you seem gullible, consider yourself "Globally Warmed".

TWR - you are irrelevant.

I don't know what planet you live on, but here on Earth, Obama most certainly did NOT win by anything close to a landslide. And in fact, close to 1/2 of the registered voters in this country did NOT vote for Obama. That is a lot of people who don't agree with Obama's socialist/marxist ideas. And those of you who did vote for him very nicely handed this country over on a silver platter to the EXACT same people who got us into this economic mess in the first place. Good job.
