Vatican to Lennon: We'll Let it Be

The Vatican has finally gotten over that little thing John Lennon said back in 1966 -- that The Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ.

The Vatican newspaper, according to MSNBC, now says the remark "sounds only like a 'boast' by a young working-class Englishman faced with unexpected success, after growing up in the legend of Elvis and rock and roll."

The story in Vatican Daily Osservatore Romano went on to praise The Beatles on the 40th anniversary of The White Album -- apparently they're fine with the Charles Manson theme song "Helter Skelter," "Revolution," and "Why Don't We Do it in the Road."

Ob-la-di, ob-la-da.

If the stories are really true, Jesus was a wack job liar who married a hooker, had a bunch of wierdos following him, and told fairy tales which stupid people to this day still believe and use as their grounds to worship him. I don't think it really matters if they forgive him. What a waste of space on ths site covering this story. The Vatican just wanted a little attention. Don't they have anything better to do? Maybe spread some more lies or brainwash a few more weak souls? Hey, maybe they can warp a few more young minds into believing in Creationism.

25. Who give a s#!t what the Vatican thinks??? First of all, they got the quote wrong. The word should be popular, not famous. Secondly, Lennon was not saying it to boast. It was more like he thought it was sad that that Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Come on now, I'm a Christian and I can see that. Does the Pope think that if he pardons Lennon, than God is going to also??? I hate to tell the Pope this, but he does not speak for God and it took him a lot longer than God to forgive Lennon for saying that (if forgiveness was even necessary, that is.

29. Lennon looks more like a Jew than Jesus from your pictures--Lennon an honest guy? "Imagine no possessions", try and get his junk on Itunes, what was his estate worth? What was Yoko fighting over?
