Jimmy Connors' Taxi Cab Confession

Jimmy Connors' manager just told us his side of the arrest story Friday night.

The manager claims Connors and his son Brett took a taxi to the UCSB basketball game. Once in line, a guy repeatedly bumped into Jimmy and began insulting him. That's when the cops arrived.

The fuzz told Jimmy to skedaddle, but he said he couldn't "technically" leave because he came in a taxi. Jimmy said he would stand outside until the game was over and leave with his son. The cops then popped him for being "a non-student refusing to leave the campus."

We're told Connors will fight the trespassing charge, which carries a maximum 6 month jail sentence.

16. The current tennis professionals could not hold this mans jock in terms of true grit and character. These qualities dont go away when we get older. He is the same guy just not in front of millions of fans. Thank God we had this man on the circuit. He deserves full support on this one. If they can cut Wall Street 750 billion then I think we can allow a guy to wait for his son to finish a game. It is just a disgusting example of how twisted our society has become. Connors should counter sue for abussive treatment.

17. Let's have some common sense, Mr Connors is a man of honour, a tennis legend, and conducts himself with grace off the court. The policeman should have used his diplomatic skills to calm the situation and show epathy to Jimmy who was been heckled by joe public. Lets hope those in authority lift this cloud hanging over Jimmy and realise the whole arrest was blow out of proportion. Here is a poem for My Connors to keep his spirits high:
There's good and bad, to be had,
A need for compromise.
For love to shine, goodwill must find
People of like minds.
