Nothing says Season's Greetings like a burning cross on your front lawn!
The American Family Association -- a hate group disguised as an ultra-right wing Christian organization -- wants to usher in the holiday spirit by selling this nearly six foot tall scary lookin' lighted cross. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
The evil '50s throwback is available on their website for just 82 hate-filled dollars "and requires only a screwdriver" to assemble.

66. Mo, to answer your question, the reason why the cross is viewed as a symbol for Christ is it symbolizes the sacrifice he made by dieing on the cross for the sins of man. So the fact that the Cross was used "to torture and kill Jesus" is in essance why it is celebrated, because Jesus paid the price for the rest of mankind's sins by being tortured and killed on the cross. It is in no way Idol worship. It is a symbol that represents Christ and his sacrifice, and nothing more than a symbol. An idol is a image or material object representing a diety OHER THAN GOD. And since Jesus is God in the flesh it is not an idol nor is it idol worship to use the cross as a symbol

71. Good one TMZ! And those of you who think the religion invented by humans called Christianity is 100% good, you really need to study history. The Inquisition, the mistreatment of Jews during the 1940s and the Middle Ages, the Mormon massacre of innocent settlers in the 1800s, etc, etc, etc comes to mind. Not to mention all the bigots who hide behind Christianity to advance their racist causes. Like any religion, Christianity can be good or bad, but don't act like it’s a perfect religion, because it's not. And it I hurt your feelings, just turn the other cheek!

72. why are we confusing religion and racism here? there is clearly nothing wrong with putting this in your yard. and to the person who referenced separation of church and state in the constitution, i suggest you actually read the constitution. the AFA is affiliated with james dobson who is a very respected religious leader both inside and outside of christianity.
